Good Shepherd Sunday invites us into one of the most tender and enduring images of Christ: “I am the Good Shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11). In this image, we encounter not a distant ruler, but One who knows us by name, walks beside us, and seeks us out when we feel lost or forgotten.

This Sunday is also Vocation Sunday—a time when the Church gently asks each of us to listen more deeply for the voice of the Shepherd calling within our lives. Vocation is not limited to ordained ministry; it is the sacred calling placed within every heart.

Some are called to priesthood or the diaconate, others to religious or solitary life, and many to lives of faithful love, service, compassion, and justice in the world. Each vocation, lived authentically, becomes a path through which Christ continues to shepherd His people.

The Good Shepherd does not drive the flock—He leads. He calls, and we are invited to respond freely, lovingly, and courageously. Sometimes that call is quiet, unfolding over time; sometimes it is unexpected and transformative. But always it is rooted in love.

On this day, we pray especially for those discerning a call to ordained or consecrated life, that they may have clarity, courage, and support. We also give thanks for all who already serve faithfully in their vocations, often unseen, yet deeply essential to the life of the Church and the healing of the world.

May we each take a moment today to pause and listen: Where is the Good Shepherd leading me? How am I being called to serve, to love, to heal?

And may we have the grace to follow.

Today we honour the Feast of Saint George, a figure remembered not only for legend, but for courage, faith, and steadfast commitment to what is right.

Often depicted in the story of the dragon, Saint George represents more than a heroic tale — he symbolises the struggle against injustice, fear, and oppression in all their forms. The “dragon” we are called to face today may not be mythical, but it is no less real: prejudice, exclusion, poverty, violence, and the many barriers that prevent people from living fully and freely as themselves.

As an inclusive church, we celebrate Saint George not as a distant warrior, but as a reminder that holiness is found in standing alongside others with compassion and courage. His witness calls us to defend the dignity of every person — regardless of gender identity, sexuality, race, background, or belief — and to be people who actively build peace.
On this feast, may we be inspired to:

Stand against injustice wherever we encounter it

Speak truth with gentleness and love

Protect and uplift those who feel unseen or unheard

Live with courage rooted in compassion

May the spirit of Saint George strengthen us to be dragon-slayers in our own time — not with swords, but with kindness, justice, and radical welcome.

Saint George, pray for us — that we may be brave in love and bold in justice.

Today, we pause to reflect on what would have marked the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, a moment not only of remembrance, but of gratitude. For seven decades, Her Late Majesty embodied a quiet, steadfast devotion to duty.

Through times of profound change, challenge, and celebration, she remained a constant presence—anchored in faith, guided by service, and committed to the people she vowed to serve.

Her life was one of remarkable dedication: from her early years shaped by the trials of war, to her long reign defined by stability, dignity, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. She reminded us that leadership is not always found in grand gestures, but often in consistency, humility, and grace.
On this centenary, we remember not only a monarch, but a woman of deep faith and resilience. Her annual messages often spoke of hope, reconciliation, and the importance of community—values that continue to resonate far beyond her reign.

May her legacy continue to inspire those who lead and those who serve. And may we carry forward her example: to live with integrity, to act with compassion, and to remain faithful in both small acts and great responsibilities.

Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord,
and let light perpetual shine upon her.

Blessed Feast Day of Saint Expeditus

(Expeditus (died 303), also known as Expedite, was said to have been a Roman centurion in Armenia who was martyred around April 303 in what is now Turkey, for converting to Christianity. Considered the patron saint of urgent causes, he is also known as the saint of time.)
