The MU is an international Christian membership charity which promotes the well-being of families in the UK and worldwide. Ely St Mary's Mothers' Union meets at 2.15pm on the 2nd Wednesday of the month in the Church Rooms.

Diocese of Ely Daily Prayer Diary.
Remembering MOTHERS’ UNION today in this Diocese and Worldwide.
Today we pray for the Benefice of Landbeach and Waterbeach. We pray for its Clergy: The Revd Paul Butler, The Revd Dr Simon Bradford, The Revd Jackie Metcalfe, The Revd Sarah Newns. We pray for its Licensed Lay Minister(s): Dr Ray Gambell, Mrs Jane Oakes and for the life of the church, and the parishes it serves. We pray for the work of the Mothers' Union in the diocese and across the world and from the Anglican Communion Cycle of Prayer: The Diocese of Bethlehem - The Episcopal Church.

MU 150th FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE: 150-Mile Sponsored BUS RIDE.
Debbie has now completed 2 Bus Rides to Huntingdon (west) and Wisbech (north) for the challenge of getting as far north, south, east and west in the Ely Diocese as she can by using public buses, covering at least 150 miles, during August. So far over 160 miles have been travelled! Her Just Giving page has raised over £500, plus around £300 in cash and bank donations, towards the MU 150th Anniversary Year Fund.
Many thanks to everyone who has made donations. 2 more rides will be completed going south and east in the Diocese.

MARY SUMNER DAY SERVICE & 150th CELEBRATION
An enjoyable service was held in Ely Cathedral celebrating Mothers’ Union 150th Anniversary Year, and remembering our founder, Mary Sumner. The Service was led by Canon Jenny Wright, and attended by over 100 members from around the Diocese. We were joined by the Mayor of Ely, Cllr Rebecca Denness, and Ely Diocesan Secretary, George Woods. There were refreshments afterwards in the Lady Chapel, served by the Cathedral MU. A “display of hands” drawn by members from around the Diocese showed comments about what being an MU member means. It was great to be able to meet up and worship together, to celebrate this wonderful occasion.

MARY SUMNER DAY SERVICE & 150th CELEBRATION

Ely Diocesan Mothers’ Union will be holding a Mary Sumner Day Service and 150th Celebration on Friday 7th August at 2pm in Ely Cathedral. This special service will be remembering Mary Sumner who founded Mothers’ Union in 1876, and commemorating our 150th Anniversary Year.

Looking forward to seeing members and friends at our Ely Diocesan MU Summer Picnic on Saturday 13th June, from 3pm-5pm, in the Bishop of Ely’s Garden.
Fizz and soft drinks provided. Bring your own packed tea.
Card & gift stall. Raffle. Worldwide Links display. Musical entertainment.
Free event – no tickets needed – donations to MU Projects.
