💙 St Etheldreda’s Day

On the anniversary of her death in 679 AD, we commemorate St Etheldreda—her life, her work, and her unwavering dedication to God.

Today, the Octagon Tower will also be illuminated in blue in her honour, celebrating the enduring legacy of the foundress of Ely and the faith that continues to inspire people here more than 1,300 years later.

🤍A joyous and momentous service was held at Ely Cathedral this afternoon to mark this installation of the Rt Revd Sarah Elizabeth Clark as the seventieth Bishop of Ely.

Very fittingly today we also celebrate the Feast of St.
Etheldreda, Foundress and First Abbess of Ely.
