PRAYERS today for Revd Mark Slaney as he becomes our President of the Methodist Conference. Mark served in posts on the Wirral and in South Ribble and then Preston Ribble Circuit, before becoming Chair of the Districts of Scotland and Shetland.

PRAYERS, too, for Caroline Stead, who becomes Vice President of the Methodist Conference - a near neighbour, coming from our adjacent District of West Yorkshire.

We are so grateful to all that Revd Richard Andrew and Matt Forsyth have given us over the year of their presidency, as they hand over to Mark and Caroline today, as Representative Session of Conference begins at the Telford International Conference Centre.

Thankful for the year of 'Our Story, Our Song' and looking forward to the new themes to emerge this year.

The President and Vice President are visiting the North West England District [from Thurs 29th April to Sunday 2nd May 2027.

Today marks the start of Methodist Conference 26 đź’›

We hope you'll join us as we pray for the success of the conference 🙏:

'Gathering God,
As Methodists come together in your name,
you are here.
May your Spirit be the inspiration and guide
throughout the Conference.
May your love, grace, and justice
be seen in the listening, conversations, and decisions made.
Help all gathered to be attentive to your tender voice
and respond with open hearts, minds, and hands.
May the fruit of this Conference
be a clear demonstration of your Kingdom at work.
Amen.'

If you're at Methodist Conference this year, be sure to keep an eye out for the All We Can team, who'd love to say hello đź‘‹

We often feel like we’re running on empty, whether we are lacking sleep or we simply have too much to do. God wants to give us rest and restore us.

Take a moment to tell God what you need. Do you need help to step back and slow down? Do you need an extra burst of energy to see you through? Do you need to sleep? Lay your needs down before God.

This , we have a range of prayers for whatever your feeling at our Prayer Hub. Whether you're feeling anxious, or tired, angry, or grateful, find something for you at methodist.org.uk/faith/exploring-faith/help-with-prayer

News reports and social media feeds can often make it feel like the UK is more divided than ever. The voices of those who spread hate and seek to divide communities can seem loud, but they ignore the millions of actions which spread hope and kindness every day, and show what is possible when we come together to make positive change happen.

From 13–20 May, A Million Acts of Hope will bring together all these everyday acts of hope and shine a light on the people and communities making them happen. It’s a national initiative being led by community and faith groups, and charities big and small.

Find out how you can take part at https://www.methodist.org.uk/about/our-stories/a-million-acts-of-hope-how-your-church-can-get-involved/
