OASIS at St Cuthbert's

OASIS at St Cuthbert's OASIS is a non-profit organisation offering help and support to all working locally, and exploring connections between business and spirituality

Outreach to the Local Business community
The main aim of Oasis is to offer business people or anyone seeking help a “listening ear” who wishes to talk privately to someone independent of the workplace. We continue to have our monthly meetings on the last Thursday of each month at 12.30 with a guest speaker. Meeting are open to everyone. Please join us on Zoom. We have very interesting speakers who

have all been very successful in their chosen careers e.g. The Governor of Edinburgh Castle, the former Inspector of H M Prisons, and Ann Budge – Chairperson and owner of Hearts FC. In addition, the monthly Soul Space continues on the first Wednesday of each month, again we are blessed with some very able speakers giving us much to reflect upon. Recordings of Soul Space and the Oasis lunch time meetings are available from our web sites. The near-term events for Oasis are:

25th March at 12.30pm March – zoom meeting with Governor of Edinburgh Castle – Major General Alastair Bruce
30th March at 12.30pm Holy Week service led by Edinburgh Chaplains
31st March Soul Space the journey to the Cross (Holy Week)
7th April Soul Space the journey to Emmaus (Easter Week)
29th April at 12.30pm with David Strang former HM Inspector of HM Prisons Scotland: "What good is prison?"
5th May journeying through the year
27th May at 12.30pm zoom meeting with Russell Napier on the Library of Mistakes

Referrals: People requesting chaplaincy support should contact Martin (mob 07913 625 394), who will put them in contact with a “listening ear.”

Last night we celebrated the annual OASIS quiz in aid of Fresh Start. Twelve teams from across the business world, and the life of St Cuthbert's came together to compete for the title of best Quizzers. With prizes kindly donated by Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian and Mamma Roma Ristorante Italiano, and the beautiful surroundings of our newly refurbished sanctuary, it was a joyous evening.

We remembered our good friend, strong supporter, and veteran question setter Ben Williams, who sadly passed away earlier this year, and the winning team from Turcan Connell holds the Ben Williams Memorial Cup, a new tradition. Next year, we hope to see them again to defend their title!

Attached is a photo of Irene Gill and the Rev. Peter Sutton, with the winning team Alan Partidge's Quizzleberries, holding the newly inaugrated cup.

We are so glad to be able to host this event again in person, and if you know any local businesses in the west end of Edinburgh who would be interested in getting involved in the life of OASIS, and taking part in future events, please do not hesitate to let us know.
