This week our Funeral Arranger, Dawn, has answered some frequently asked questions. Funerals and dying can be a scary topic but to us, we're experts, so we want to make the conversation easier. You are welcome to call or pop in at any time to ask us questions.
Can the Co-op handle everything?
➡️Yes, we can organise everything such as cars, flowers, stationary, obituaries, memorial items and even headstones. You pick the music, and we will organise that- if you want a piper, I’ll book one. We will organise your Priest/Minister/Humanist/Celebrant if you like.
How many songs should I choose?
➡️ A minimum of 3 songs I’d say but you can have more. It’s nice to have a gathering track for entering the chapel, a song for coffin entry, something for reflection and one or two for exit. You can also have a hymn or two if you would like- there’s also no obligation to sing as we can book the choral version of the hymn. For the music, we book it with the crematorium for you. At churches, usually they organise it within their sound system. Don’t forget you can have your favourite songs; they don’t have to be ‘typical’ funeral songs.
What can be worn in the coffin?
➡️Anything from your PJ’s and comfies to your Sunday best. Usually, we cannot have shoes present for cremation due the material, but most other things are allowed. We always say to pick the things they loved the most.
What costs are involved for under 18 funerals?
➡️ Our services are free of charge including a selection of our coffins and appropriate vehicles. Crematoria and most cemeteries do not charge also. There is a cost for additional items such as flowers, orders of service and stationary and additional vehicles or alternative coffins. We go through absolutely everything with you and you will always leave our office absolutely clear on any costs.
