Polwarth Parish Church

Polwarth Parish Church Polwarth Parish Church is part of the Church of Scotland - located on Polwarth Terrace. Its opening service took place on 18th May 1901. Minister: Rev. Jack Holt

Polwarth Parish Church was formed by a union of the Candlish Parish Church and the John Ker Memorial Parish Church congregations on 29th November 1981. With its eminent eye-catching gothic architecture, the church (originally the Candlish building) is one of the most distinguished churches designed by the renowned architect Sydney Mitchell. A centenary project in 2001 accomplished a complete refur

bishment of the sanctuary. This included removing the pews and replacing them with comfortable chairs to provide flexible seating arrangements in a prestigious cathedral ambience. An outcome of the renovation was the remarkable improvement of the acoustics. This makes the sanctuary a splendid venue for concerts with seating for 300. There is also a labyrinth varnished on to the sanctuary floor, which is open for walking several times throughout the year. In addition, the church has two halls, offering space for a variety of activities and events. For availability and booking, please contact the church office. There is a service every Sunday at 11am.
