Sunday’s recital is a meditation leading from Candlemas to Pentecost – a programme arranged for the lower voices of our choir, focusing on the ‘early music’ repertoire of Victoria, J. S. Bach, and Tallis, concluding with a setting of Come Holy Ghost specifically arranged for this event. The music is woven around a sequence of poems based on photographs of the Antony Gormley sculptures that stand along the Water of Leith, reflecting on themes of penitence, forgiveness, acceptance, and hope – very fitting for the ethos of the Robin Chapel.

Last week, BBC Radio 4 broadcast a documentary telling the story of the Stone of Destiny. The Robin Chapel Choir can be heard briefly at the beginning of the programme, in a recording made during a special service held the week before the coronation to mark the stone’s arrival at Westminster Abbey. It was a great honour and privilege for the choir to have been invited to take part. The programme is still available on BBC Sounds.
