Craigmillar Park Church

Craigmillar Park Church A worshipping and caring community, following Jesus Christ.

The church is situated in Newington, a leafy suburb situated some two
miles south of Princes Street, Edinburgh. Our building is situated on the
main north – south bus route stretching from east end of Princes Street
through Newington towards Liberton. Our congregation is an active member of Newington Churches Together, the local ecumenical association. We are part of an informal parish grouping wi

th two nearby Church of Scotland parishes, Reid Memorial and Priestfield, and enjoy cordial relations with the local Roman Catholic and Scottish Episcopal Church congregations. We hold regular joint services with Reid Memorial and there are many close informal links between members of the various congregations. The main diet of worship is at 9.45am each Sunday with special services
during Easter week and at Christmas. Formal Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sundays of March, June, September and December and also on Easter Sunday. In addition, informal communion services are conducted in the chapel following the normal service on the first Sunday of every month.

On 2 June representatives from Presbytery’s Deployment Committee oversaw voting after morning services in Mayfield Salisbury, Priestfield and Craigmillar Park churches. The results are below.

So, overwhelming support for our Union which augurs well for our future Newington Trinity congregation. Reid Memorial also voted to sever the linkage with Craigmillar Park.

The Deployment Committee will report to Presbytery at its meeting on 18 June and if all goes well it will formally approve our Union. The Union itself will take place in the autumn and we will keep you informed of the exact date.

Edinburgh Street Pastors have been sharing God’s love by listening, caring and helping on the streets of Scotland’s capital since 2009. When the opportunity arises they share the Good News of the Gospel to a city in need of the truth that is Jesus Christ. They currently have teams going out every Friday and two Saturdays per month. They can be found in all areas of the city centre including around the Omni Centre, Cowgate, Grassmarket, Princes Street, George Street, talking to and assisting folk to help them stay safe and happy, sometimes when they are at their most vulnerable. Their vision is to create two more teams to go out on Saturday as well as to build up the existing Friday teams, so they are always happy to welcome new street pastors to the team, and have ongoing training sessions. The 2021 autumn training sessions will run across two separate weekends of 24-26 September and 8-10 October. The training sessions will run across a Friday evening, Saturday part day and Sunday late afternoons each time. Email the Recruitment and Training Administrator ( [email protected] ) if you are interested in taking part in any of the upcoming sessions.

Have a look at their new video to get a feel for the work Street Pastors do.
