The Muslim Ummah has lost a giant, great scholar and spiritual guide. Hazrat Shaykh al-Hadith Allama Pir Syed Hussainuddin Shah Sahib (from the Family of the Holy Prophetﷺ ), founder and head of Gulistan Mehr Ali Jamia Rizvia Zia-ul-Uloom and Patron-in-Chief of Tanzeem-ul-Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan, have passed away.

Hazrat Allama Pir Syed Hussainuddin Shah (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ) was not only a great scholar, but a teacher, mentor, and spiritual guide to Allama Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor Sahib of Edinburgh and tens of thousands of other scholars and students who continue to serve Islam across the world.

He was a true embodiment of the blessed teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah. His character, humility, wisdom, and deep love for Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ could be felt by everyone fortunate enough to meet him.

He blessed Edinburgh with his presence on numerous occasions, leaving behind memories and an impact that will remain in the hearts of those who met him. There was something truly special about sitting in his company — one would leave feeling spiritually uplifted, renewed, and with an even greater love for Islam and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

He devoted nearly three-quarters of a century to spreading Islamic knowledge and wisdom, establishing numerous religious institutions, and teaching the Qur’an and Sunnah until his final days.

He was, without doubt, a man of Allah — a beacon of knowledge, guidance, and love whose light touched countless lives.
May Allah Almighty shower him with His infinite mercy, elevate his ranks among the highest of the righteous, accept his lifelong service to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and grant him the companionship of the beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Jannatul Firdaus.

May Allah give patience and strength to his family, students, and all those remembering his passing.

His physical presence has left us, but the knowledge, guidance, love, and legacy he left behind will continue to live on through the thousands of hearts and lives he touched.

Portobello Masjid Brothers' Annual Youth Outing – Knockhill Karting
Saturday 19th July 2026

Alhamdulillah, Portobello Masjid's annual Brothers' Youth Outing was a tremendous success. A total of 38 brothers took part in an unforgettable day at Knockhill Racing Circuit, enjoying exciting Grand Prix karting while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood in a positive Islamic environment.

The day was far more than just recreation. It was centred around our core values of worshipping Allah ﷻ, cultivating love for our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and striving to follow his blessed Sunnah. Throughout the outing, we paused for brief sessions of dhikr, performed Dhuhr Salah together, and reflected on the importance of keeping our faith at the heart of everything we do.

The thrilling races, breathtaking scenery, and beautiful weather made for a memorable experience, but the true success of the day was seeing our young brothers connect, encourage one another, and grow together upon the foundations of Islam.

At Portobello Masjid, we firmly believe that investing in our youth is investing in the future of our Ummah. Through initiatives such as these, we aim to nurture confident, responsible young Muslims who embody good character, uphold Islamic values, and become ambassadors and flag bearers of Islam within their communities.

We make heartfelt du'a that Allah ﷻ grants our youth steadfastness upon Islam, increases them in beneficial knowledge, righteous character, and love for His Messenger ﷺ, and makes them among those who serve and honour this Deen throughout their lives.

May Allah ﷻ abundantly reward everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise and facilitate this successful event. Their dedication, sincerity, and commitment continue to provide invaluable opportunities for our brothers to learn, grow, and strengthen their faith and brotherhood.

Alhamdulillah for another successful youth programme, and we look forward to many more, In shaa Allah.
