Iona is a Scottish pianist who’s been immersed in traditional music from a young age, growing up in a family of musicians. Learning through community from an early age fostered a strong connection to collaboration and shared musical spaces. At this Culture Club event, she introduces us to her upcoming EP.

A statement from Rt Rev Gordon Kennedy, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, on the recent anti-Muslim attacks in Edinburgh.

“We are deeply troubled and appalled by events in Edinburgh on Friday, when several people were injured in what appears to have been anti-Muslim attacks.

“Faith-based hate is racism; it is a sin that should have no home in Scotland. We stand in solidarity with our Muslim friends and neighbours at this distressing time.

“We pray God’s protection over them and ask that He prevents any seed of hatred from taking root in people’s hearts.

“Edinburgh is a welcoming city. We are proud of the strong and long–standing relationships between all communities of faith in Edinburgh. Because of these deep and rich friendships, an attack on one community hurts us all.

“As disciples of Jesus we pray for our community and welcome those who come among us. We ask everyone in our churches to look out for their neighbours, challenge hate speech where they hear it, and to open our doors and hearts to show the love and grace of God to one another.”
