Recently Craig McLaren, who is building the disabled ramp at our church, found a hammered coin (a Scottish James VI copper penny) while digging the foundations. These coins were issued in 1619 and 1623. They feature a loin rampant on one side and three thistle heads on the other. The years have not been kind to this coin and it is a little hard to see these features. https://www.sovr.co.uk/products/scotland-james-vi-copper-penny-type-ii-extremely-rare-gm26169

Members of our church have been busy knitting jumpers for toddlers which have just been delivered to Rerotlhe Day Care in Botswana. Although it is a hot weather country, temperatures drop sharply during the night-time.

This afternoon we had a relaxed service where we welcomed some of our older members who are unable to attend on a Sunday morning. The service was taken by Jane Sandell whose message on the theme was light.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ John 8:12

We shared fellowship over a cup of tea and tasty home baking.
