What a wonderful evening at our EHRS Supper Quiz 🎉

We were delighted to welcome around 170 members, friends and supporters for an evening filled with great food, friendly competition, and laughter, all in support of two remarkable charities: Chai Cancer Care and Max's Foundation.

Together, we raised around £5,000, helping to support families affected by cancer and funding vital research into genetic heart conditions in children.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and took part in the auction. We are also incredibly grateful to our volunteers and organisers, whose hard work behind the scenes made the evening such a success.

Events like this are only possible because of the generosity and enthusiasm of our members and donors, whose commitment enables EHRS not only to serve our own community, but also to support important causes beyond it.

The evening was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.

In celebration of Shavuot, our EcoTeam invited the community to help bring the sanctuary to life with flowers and plants, echoing the spirit of renewal and beauty associated with the festival 🌿

We were especially grateful to receive a thoughtful bouquet from St Andrews Church as part of this shared gesture of community and celebration 🤝

It was lovely to see the sanctuary bloom with colour 💐

A few inspiring days in Boston filled with meaningful learning, thoughtful conversation, and valuable connection for Rabbi Debbie and Sarah Koster, Head of Development & Engagement for Families at EHRS.

We are grateful for the warm welcome at Temple Beth Shalom, Temple Emanuel of Newton, and Temple Israel of Boston.

Now looking ahead to the next part of this inspirational learning journey in Washington.

What a beautiful day at Bhaktivedanta Manor organised by our interfaith group! We were met with incredible warmth and hospitality, gained deeper insight into the traditions and growth of the Hare Krishna movement, and even got to feed the cows. It was a joyful and memorable experience for everyone involved.

This weekend, the children at EHRS created a beautiful birthday card for Sir David Attenborough, who turned 100 on Friday 8 May.

It was a good weekend to think about all of creation around us, as our parashah, Behar, includes the earliest version of No Mow May. The people are told not to work the land, but let it lie fallow so that it can recuperate (Leviticus 25: 4) For No Mow May, we put our lawnmower away so that wildflowers can grow and insects flourish.

To mark all that, we painted butterflies and created a card with our best wishes for Sir David Attenborough, who has exemplified and taught us to take good care of our environment.

Last night, after the Rally against anti-semitism in Whitehall, Lord John Mann, the government advisor on Anti Semitism spoke at EHRS alongside Co-Lead of the Movement for Progressive Judaism, Rabbi Charley Baginsky. We learned a great deal about the scope of anti-semitism across the UK and the action that Lord Mann has taken to root it out. His passion to protect the Jewish community and our nation shone through.

On Wednesday 29th April, EHRS were delighted to welcome Year 7 pupils from Garston Manor School, a special needs school supporting young people with learning challenges, helping them grow in confidence and independence through rich experiences.

The children learnt what a synagogue is, touched objects, asked questions, joined our exciting treasure hunt, tasted delicious challah and grape juice, and met Rabbi Mark. They were engaged and full of energy. It was our pleasure to share our space!

This is one of many special needs schools we collaborate with, and we're proud to keep building these relationships through our charitable work. Visits like this deepen inclusion across communities.

EHRS proudly supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme, making us a welcoming space for non-visible disabilities.
Garston Manor already can't wait to return!
