Nightingales enjoyed a brilliant day out at Norwich Castle learning about the Anglo-Saxons. They met characters from the past, examined some Anglo-Saxon treasure and visited the battlements, with a spectacular view over Norwich. The children enjoyed spotting sights with links to the Anglo-Saxon period from these dizzy heights and returned to school tired, happy and reciting some Anglo-Saxon verse! A warm thank you from Mrs Quinn to all the supporting adults without whom such trips could not go ahead.

We have been lucky enough to receive our new friendship bench this week. Earlier in the year the school council looked at several designs and voted for their favourite. The bench was presented to us by officers from National Highways, the government company carrying out the multi-million-pound duelling work on the A47. The animal-themed 'friendship' benches bench is made from timber felled during the duelling work. Chainsaw artist Matt Darge has crafted the bench, complete with carved animals including owls and squirrels.
National Highways says the gesture is part of its Social Value Plan - which it describes as a commitment to make a positive difference to the communities and the environment where it works.
