St Marys

St Marys Our churches in the parish of Eastham are welcoming churches with diverse congregations. We are committed to be an intrinsic part of the community.

We are a thriving, growing, laughing, loving and inclusive church with equal opportunities for all. We aim to ensure that everyone who comes to worship with us for any reason, is touched by the love of God. As a church we aim to flood the parish and surrounding community with Jesus kingdom principles of justice, love and peace.

These prayers all reflect the season summer and its warmth and light!

Thursday 18th June 2026

In this summer season, Lord God, the more we look, the more we see!

You who breathed this world into being,
who spoke into the harmony of nature,
the perfection of a butterfly's wing,
the grandeur of a mountain range,
the soaring eagle and hummingbird,
and made it good (Genesis 1), we praise you.

Everything we see and touch and hold, reminds us that your creative breath
is still alive and active.

Thank you for the warmth of your love, sustaining this world, growing us in your image, deadheading our useless parts and watering us through our dry times!
Amen, Lord.

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3 (NIV)

Father, you created in the earth, a garden for us to enjoy.

Within it you planted the most magical of flower and trees, birds and creatures and tiny insects and pollenating bees.

You didn’t have, or need, any horticultural training to plan your colour scheme, and no gardening expert to show us variety or design.

Your garden on this earth is perfect, its scale so immense and yet with our clumsiness and unawareness, we have spoilt so much of it.

Forgive us, Lord, and let us all now, even with what is going on all around us, be so mindful of all that we should be doing to work with your creation and restore your harmony.

In Jesus’ name
Amen.

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no reason for not knowing God and working with his creation . Romans 1v20

That we can glimpse you within creation is a beautiful thought,
but I think it also tells us that you wish to be seen, and to be found and known by us.

Help us to look up then, to look around and to see all the textures you display before us.

Help us to see you in the beauty of the scudding high summer clouds, or sharp rainfalls, or in pots that need to be watered even, over and over….

Anywhere and everywhere Lord God.

This world
Your creation,
Rolled into a sphere
Packaged in sunshine
Gift-wrapped in love
Given to us
Thank you
Amen.

This is what God the Lord says—
the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,
who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it,
who gives breath to its people,
and life to those who walk on it: — Isaiah 42:5 (NIV)

Lord, as we sit and feel the warmth of the sun on our face,
or feel a gentle breeze, we just marvel at the rhythm of seasons,
of new birth, death and re-creation.

And they reflect what you have done for us as well on the Cross.

All these speak so clearly of your love, your power and your beauty and your creativity. You are mighty and worthy to be praised as we do now

Sometimes as I look around, Lord, You are so much more than Creator, but a master artist as well, sharing your personality with each brushstroke,
so that even the myriad colours of a butterfly's wing show the exuberance of your love for all that you have made.

Relax us in this warmth, Lord, so that just as the buds open each day, we too will open to the power of your Spirit, Amen.

In His hand are the deep places of the earth;
The heights of the hills are His also.
The sea is His, for He made it;
And His hands formed the dry land. — Psalm 95:4-5 (NKJV)

Sunday 14th June 2026 - A Sabbath prayer of hope!

Dear Lord God,
Thinking of your goodness blows my mind and sets it to wonder!
This Sabbath, worshiping with others we know, in person or on line,
I know I am held tight by your love.
I find peace in your peace.
I am hopeful simply knowing that You have a Divine plan for me, and all is good.
Nothing is impossible with You by my side.
I dare to dream big, to set high goals, and to soar in you will and love for me.

Bless those who are carers to those in need.
For all whose lives are dedicated to loving service to you and to each other….may they bring peace
Bless those who themselves are prayers
where there is need….may they bring your love
In the name of Jesus, Amen
“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.” From the Sermon of the Mount in Matthew 6

Saturday 13th June 2026 - a prayer for people chronically ill

Father God,
Please let me snuggle in Your arms.
My body is weary and painful,
My energy is gone.
May your wings be my duvet
And Your mighty outstretched arm, my pillow.
May I go to sleep listening to You sing over me?
I just want to rest.

I know the world is going on outside.
I wish I could join in.
But I’m not able to now.
It’s not easy waiting,
Being patient,
Hoping for a cure and healing.
I get frustrated, angry, sad, and annoyed,
Because I want to be busy building Your kingdom.
I hope this is just for a season,
But if not, help me to stay faithful to You

For now, as I rest in Your embrace,
Help me to know I am safe.
You are always with me,
And it’s okay just to be still.
I’m no less of a person
Because I can’t do.
For now, I’ll just be.
I’m still Your child,
Completely loved;
I’m Yours for eternity.
Thank you for never forsaking me.
Amen.

(c) Tanya R Dooley
We may not be healed
but we shall be made whole,
if not in this life
then in eternity. Hosea 12 v2
