Christian, it’s so easy to get caught up in the here and now and forget the bigger picture: our future home with Jesus. Maybe it’s time to pause and remind ourselves of this. How would your life change it you lived each day with heaven in mind?

Tomorrow is Trinity Sunday, a day to celebrate the Christian doctrine of the Trinity.

So what is the Trinity? The Trinity can feel confusing, but at its heart it means this: there is one God, revealed in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. One isn’t the other, but they’re equal in rank, equal in power, equal in glory, and equal in majesty.

Why does it matter? Because it shows us that God is, at his very core, a relationship of perfect love. The Father, Son, and Spirit have always lived in loving unity, and they work in complete union in bringing us salvation - the Father appoints, the Son accomplished, the Spirit applies. The Trinity reminds us that love isn’t something God created, it’s part of who he is!

God's eternal and unfailing promises in Christ - forgiveness, guidance, eternal life - are *everything* we need to keep walking with Him with the divine power of the Spirit.

"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." On Sunday morning we are starting a new sermon series in the book of 2 Peter. The letter reminds us that if you know our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ personally, be encouraged that you have:
• a faith as precious as the Apostles
• Jesus’ righteousness (our salvation does not depend on our own performance)
• His very great and precious promises
• so that we will be like God one day, having escaped every sinful desire

Just like we go to the doctor when we’re sick, Jesus invites us to come to Him with our sin.
