💧 Well Blessing – Sunday 21st June 💧

Everyone is warmly invited to join us for our Well Blessing at the historic Headon Well.

We will leave St Peter’s Church at 2.15pm and walk across the fields to the well, where the blessing service will begin at 3.00pm. Please wear suitable footwear.

For those unable to make the walk, parking is available at Mill Farm, Nether Headon.

Following the service, refreshments will be served in the Village Hall.

The well has been an important part of village life for generations, and we would love to see familiar faces and new faces alike as we come together to celebrate this special place and tradition.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces enjoying cake, conversation and the evening entertainment together. We are delighted to have raised almost £500 towards the future of St Peter’s Church 🍰 ☕️

A little sneaky peek at some of the flowers beginning to appear in church ahead of our 855 Year Celebration Weekend 🌿✨

Join us for a welcoming weekend of flower displays, church history, music and community at the heart of Headon. We’d love to fill the church once again with familiar faces, new faces and the warm community spirit of days gone by.

Tea, coffee and cake will be served in church on Saturday and Sunday afternoons ☕🌸

✨ Have you seen the grotesque on Headon’s church? ✨

If you have ever walked around the outside of the church, you may have seen this face scowling down at you! Though you might have missed it – it’s not easy to spot.

In architecture, he is known as a “grotesque” and it’s thought that he is there to ward off evil.

For the last 700 years or so he has made it his business to keep a watchful eye and scowl threateningly at anyone loitering on the north side of the church.

Our church contains many fascinating surprises. Come and have a look round – it’s always open!

🌸 Why not come to our Festival weekend of May 16th/ 17th. Several exciting events are planned! The church will be beautifully decorated with flowers and there will be a “Walk through Time”, directing your walk around the church to discover how it evolved through the centuries 🌸

On May 16th at 7pm, the well- known local historian, Adrian Gray, will give a talk on Secret Basstlaw, which will be fascinating! 📜

The Grand Finale to our festive weekend will be a performance by the Lydian Choir on Sunday May 17th at 6 pm. Some of you may remember that they sang for us a few years ago and were absolutely delightful! We are so pleased that they are coming here again! 🎶
