We were expecting to hear Jeffrey Makinson on 21st May, but now he is unable to be with us. Instead we shall hear exciting new talent in Yipeng Xu, Jeffrey's organ scholar at Lincoln Cathedral.

The present instrument is based on one by Walker, installed in 1841 on a gallery at the west end of the nave. In 1886 it was re-built and enlarged by Brindley and Foster of Sheffield and was moved to its present position in a specially built organ chamber. In 1981 Cousans of Lincoln electrified the action, added the detached console and made further tonal changes.
