Earlier this evening the Fire Brigade attended Ordsall Churchyard to put out a fire that had started. We don’t know the cause of this but would like to thank them for their help.

As the ground is currently so dry, we ask everyone to take care and not to drop any cigarette butts while passing through. We have no reason to believe that this was done maliciously but know from the news how much worse this could have been. Fortunately no major damage has been done to the graves in this area and the fire did not have time to spread far.

If anyone saw the fire or was in the area at the time, please contact us to let us know.

The weather forecast suggests it will be getting very hot again over the next few days ~ so please pop in to cool down in our wonderfully cool church buildings!
