🔔🥂 Bells & Bubbles was a wonderful way to celebrate John Constable's 250th birthday last night!

After a day of torrential rain ☔, the skies cleared just in time for our bell-ringing team to ring the bells 250 times in honour of Constable's 250th anniversary. A huge thank you to our brilliant ringers and to everyone who joined us for the occasion. 👏🎉

As Constable's parish church, it was a privilege to mark this special milestone and celebrate his lasting legacy here in East Bergholt. 🖼️🌳

Join us at St Mary’s Church, East Bergholt, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Constable in true Constable Country style.

To mark this special milestone, our bell-ringing team will ring the church bells 250 times in honour of Constable’s 250th birthday.

Afterwards, raise a glass with us and enjoy a glass of celebratory elderflower cordial bubbles, plus the chance to sample a specially created commemorative gin crafted for the occasion and available to order.

This promises to be a memorable community celebration of one of Britain’s greatest artists, bringing together local people, heritage, art and tradition in the heart of Constable Country.

250 years on, let’s come together to celebrate John Constable’s legacy with bells, bubbles and community spirit – we hope to see you there!

St Mary’s Church invites you to our Flower Festival, now running for one week until Sunday 14 June 🌿🎨

📍 St Mary’s Church, East Bergholt

Floral displays, using a blend of locally grown, garden and wild flowers, framed a collection of Constable-inspired artwork, created by a selection of talented local schools and community groups.

Taking inspiration from Constable’s landscapes, skies and portraits, the varied artwork was created by East Bergholt Young Explorers, East Bergholt CEVC Primary School, East Bergholt High School, the local WI and the u3a art group.

🌹🍸 Introducing Mademoiselle Pétale, a small batch rose infused botanical gin created by Nowé Spirits to celebrate Constable's 250th birthday!

Distilled to celebrate Constable's special birthday, it will be available to taste on 11th June at the Bell Cage. Orders will be placed directly with the distillers who will then donate a percentage of their sales to the church for the roof fund. 🥂⛪

Made with rose, juniper, lychee, mulberries, orris root and vanilla, this gin has a soft floral character with delicate fruit notes and a smooth finish. Rose leads gently on the nose, followed by lychee and vanilla on the palate, with mulberries adding a subtle depth.

The liquid carries a blush pink hue, making it as beautiful in the glass as it is on the label. Elegant, fragrant and beautifully balanced, Mademoiselle Pétale has been created to celebrate St Mary the Virgin Church, East Bergholt, it's unique bellcage and John Constable connections and a portion of proceeds will be donated to support the church fabric fund.
