Please can all residents close doors and windows due to a fire locally. There is currently an outbuilding on fire and as there maybe chemicals located in the outbuilding advice is to close all doors and windows.

People living or travelling near Burmarsh Road in Burmarsh, New Romney are no longer being advised to close windows and doors. This was due to smoke coming from a large outbuilding alight in the area.

Three fire engines remain in attendance, and crews are working to extinguish the fire.

Please share this advice with anyone in the affected area, who might not have access to the internet.

Openreach - Temporary Road Closure - Donkey Street, Burmarsh - 9th September 2026 (Folkestone and Hythe District)

Due to works planned to be undertaken by Openreach, it will be necessary to close part of Donkey Street, Burmarsh, from 9th September 2026 with estimated completion by 10th September 2026.

Donkey Street, Burmarsh, will be closed outside the pond of Owl Barn, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Donkey Street, Burmarsh Road, A259 Hythe Road, A259 Dymchurch Road, Botolphs Bridge Road, Lower Wall Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while allowing fibre works to be carried out, works are undertaken by Openreach.

A massive shout out to Shepherd & Crook Burmarsh for taking the time to visit our friends at Tynwald Hythe and this week, and our along the CEO Allison and the residents at Tynwald they were so excited to be visited by Jess and friends with some new born lambs! Also a massive thanks to Paul who let us babysit his lambs for the afternoon and bring such joy to all the residents. We are so lucky to have such an amazing landlady in the village who goes the extra mile to bring joy to others. Thank you Jess, Storm and Ethan for making this all possible!
