St Mary's Harlington

St Mary's Harlington St Mary's, Harlington is an active friendly Christian community, meeting in a beautiful C13th church

The Anglican (Church of England) Church of St Mary's is part of the Diocese of St Albans, meets in a beautiful Grade I Listed building and is formed of people from the local community. Our philosophy is to be as mainstream as possible, embracing people of different backgrounds and Christian traditions, believing the 'truth' often lies in the respect of various approaches - within the framework of

orthodox doctrine and belief. Our teaching is biblically based (we aim to read the whole bible in public worship every four years) and beside our own Vicar's preaching our pulpit is open to accredited ministers of the Methodist, Baptist, Catholic and House Church movements.

At Messy Church on May 10th we learnt about the Bible story of Jesus's Ascension, sang together, and one of the craft activities we made was a picture of the Ascension. Our next session is on Sunday 14th June at 9am in the Parish Hall.

We recently welcomed some Dutch visitors to the church - they have a keen interest in John Bunyan and took photos of the Bunyan altar and window. They told us that they are all currently reading 'The Pilgrims Progress'. One of them played the organ beautifully whilst the others sang several hymns, and they then enjoyed refreshments before returning to Elstow and Bedford.
