There will be no service at Christ Church tomorrow - instead we're looking forward to our joint service - hosted by St. Ebba's, Eyemouth at 11:15am.

A time when our three congregations meet together for worship - followed by a fish & chip lunch.

Thought for the Week:

I wonder how often you feel like just giving up or giving in?
We can so often feel we're trying, pushing, working hard - but for what?

It can feel like what we do just doesn't have any impact at all. And it can be tempting to simply stop.

If that's how you feel, then to encourage you Confucius once said:
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”

And it reminds us that what we do does make a difference; that progress is still progress, no matter the pace. This quote serves as a reminder that persistence is key to accomplishments. We may encounter obstacles along the way, but as long as we keep moving forward, we continue to make strides toward our goals.

Today, if you feel like stopping, be encouraged, progress might be slow, barely noticeable, but just remember, you are still moving forward, still making a difference.

Prayer and Reflection for the Week:

Reading:
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

Reflection:
When exhaustion takes over and your soul feels heavy, remember this invitation from Jesus, offered to each one of us: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

This reminds us that we don’t need to carry life’s stresses alone. Jesus promises not
just the relief of external rest; but rather that deep inner est and peace of the soul.
All he asks is that we come to him with a simplicity of faith and trust; that we come, just as we are, and let Him share your load.

As you walk with Him and learn from His gentle heart, you’ll discover that even in seasons of exhaustion, your burdens grow lighter and your spirit finds peace.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, I am so tired and stressed right now; help me to bring to you, and to leave with you, my burdens, and to both find and know true rest in you. Teach me to walk with You and trust You with all that weighs me down. Let Your gentle love renew my heart today. Amen.

Further Reflection:
I encourage you to find some space each day this week to just stop, sit, relax and rest. And as you do to become aware of God's presence with you.

Thought for the Week:

Have you noticed, more and more, that we live within a culture that celebrates personal achievements - promotions at work; achieving success in a particular pursuit, achieving a certain look, whatever it might be. We are encouraged to see as good, and to celebrate, these external, and often somewhat short-lived personal achievements.

Alongside this we are constantly reminded that what we've just worked hard to achieve now needs to be surpassed by more and better. And we can find ourselves caught within this loop and self achievement and yet constant dissatisfaction.

R.T. Bennett once said: “Success is not how high you have climbed, but how you make a positive difference to the world.”

And it reminds us; rather than striving for self-improvement, at the cost of so much, we should simply look to live a life that makes a positive difference to those around us. For as we do, not only does this lift our own sense of self-worth and value, it also inspires and encourages those around us.

Reminding us that the positive impact we make upon those around us is, in fact, the true measure of success. It inspires us to focus more upon on our contributions to the world instead of personal achievements, which can sometimes be fleeting.

Today, why not strive to make a positive difference to the life of those around you!

Prayer and Reflection for the Week:

Reading:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.” (John 14:27)

Reflection:
We can often treat peace like a mood or a temporary emotional high, and we might often describe peace as the absence of noise, conflict, or emails, or interruptions. But this type of peace is fragile. It depends entirely on our circumstances remaining perfect. If one thing goes wrong, then our sense of “peace” evaporates.

However, the peace that God promises is not simply an emotion, it's not something that is dependent upon our external circumstances. Rather what God promises is something rooted internally, a peace not because of, but a peace in spite of. For the peace of God is something we can know and experience even if all around us appears to be chaotic.

For this is a peace which is built upon the foundation of forgiveness, unconditional love and an eternal promise.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for a peace that doesn’t change with the weather; isn't dependent upon my external circumstances. I admit that I often fail to look for peace in Your presence. Today, help me to lean into the peace that you offer and promise. And remind me again that I am forgiven, my future is secure, and You are with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
