📲The 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time newsletter is live!

We are looking forward to the annual St Margaret's Pilgrimage this Sunday, 14th June.

Due to the Pilgrimage, there will be no Sunday morning Mass at St Margaret's or Holy Name. All of the Parish are heartily welcome to attend all, or any, of the Pilgrimage.

The format of this year's events is as follows:
12pm - The Angelus will be said at St Margaret's Cave
1pm – There will be a short prayer service at St Margaret's tomb at Dunfermline Abbey
2pm – The Pilgrimage Procession will start at the Glen Gates and makes its way up the high street, to St Margaret's church.
3pm – Holy Mass in St Margaret's Church.

We hope to see you there!

A reminder for the St Margaret's congregation that there are public road and car park closures this Sunday morning as the Auld Toon 10k is taking place. You will have to find alternative parking when the church car park is full. Good luck to all of the runners! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍♂️‍➡️

There will be an additional Mass on Friday 12th at 7pm, held at St Margaret's for The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. All are welcome!

And a reminder that next Sunday, 14th is the annual St Margaret's Pilgrimage - see the attached poster for timings of the wonderful series of events planned from noon onwards.

The Bishops of Scotland warmly welcome Magnifica Humanitas (Magnificent Humanity), the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, as a timely and insightful contribution to one of the defining questions of our age. As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes human life, this important document calls us to place the dignity of the human person at the heart of every technological advance.

We encourage the faithful, our schools and parish communities to read, study and pray with this landmark text.

To support this, the Office of Communications and Evangelisation will soon publish a parish study guide and other resources for small groups and parish use, helping communities to reflect more deeply on the opportunities and challenges of new technologies and their impact on human life.

Bishop John Keenan
President of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland

Also, Father has written an introduction the Pope Leo's Magnifica Humanitas which was published this week. You can read it on The Holy See website.

🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍➡️Heads up that next Sunday, 7th June is the Auld Toon 10k, which means some roads and car parks in the city centre will be closed. Read ahead to plan for Sunday morning Mass.

✝️The Pentecost Newsletter is live!

Over the next three weeks a few of the Office team will be on hand after masses (see reverse of reading sheet for dates/locations) to help anyone not on the Parish Register to get signed up.

There will be no morning mass at St Margaret's next Saturday, 30th May, as we are welcoming the children to take their First Holy Communion at 11am. Please remember the children and their families in your prayers at this special time.

In the Spotlight, Cathy and Amanda Dellar share an update on our thriving Church Shop at St Margaret's - be sure to check out the wide selection of stock available.

🌍The 7th Sunday of Easter newsletter is live!

This Sunday is World Communications Day, which is the focus of this week's Spotlight article from Father. Please take a moment to read it over. There will also be a second collection for Communications Sunday.

At St Margaret's we have the One World Group breakfast in the Crypt after Sunday Mass. This breakfast is generously sponsored by Lorna & Tommy Stewart in celebration of their recent wedding anniversary. Congratulations to them! All parishioners are welcome to come down for a hot breakfast roll and cuppa.

In January, we had the honour of being visited by Hungary’s President, Dr Tamás Sulyok during an official visit to the UK. Dr Sulyok, his wife and a delegation, paid their respects to St Margaret, visiting the relic in the Lady’s Chapel. They were received by Archbishop Leo Cushley.

President Sulyok presented our Parish with a special commemorative gift - a Herend porcelain Cross. The Herend Cross is a unique, handmaid porcelain that represents Hungarian applied art and heritage.

In recognition of how treasured this is, we have displayed this in the Lady’s Chapel.
Please take time when you are next at Mass to view the Cross and read more about it.

If you are inspired to further your devotion to St Margaret, take time in the Lady’s Chapel to pray in the presence of the relic of St Margaret. Also, you may wish to express your devotion by saying the Novena of St Margaret. We do so at St Margaret’s after morning Mass from 10th-18 every month.

👀 Please be vigilant for any suspicious emails which claim to be from Fr, priests or fellow parishioners asking for money. Unfortunately, there have been some scam emails reported.

✝ In this week's Spotlight, we are celebrating a very special gift from the Hungarian President from his visit earlier this year. It has been carefully displayed in the Lady's Chapel at St Margarets. We are all invited to view it and take a moment to pray with the relic of St Margaret, Pearl of Scotland.
