💙❤️Juniors and Explorers 💙❤️

Juniors and Explorers joined forces this week and learnt all about a new type of hero…Scientists and Engineers👩‍🔬

We were lucky enough to have some special visitors from Dundee Science Centre who shared what they do, explained the importance of science and engineering in everyday life, and showed us how circuit boards can be used to power fans and lights. We also put our creativity and problem-solving skills to the test, using blocks and different materials to design and build our very own buildings and objects!

Everyone had a fantastic time getting hands-on, asking questions and discovering how science helps shape the world around us.

We then finished off our session with some fun parachute games, bringing everyone together for lots of teamwork, laughter and excitement!

Last night the girls learned all about our favourite bug in girls brigade! The bee 🐝

Later the girls got to make their very own bird feeders (a pretty messy activity) but one we hope they enjoyed!! 🌻

We also handed out the very first junior of the month award and squad of the month awards 🏆

❤️Explorers ❤️

This week, our Explorers put up the rules board that they created themselves, helping everyone remember how we can work together and have fun!

Following on from our trip to the fire station last week, we talked about what we learned and discussed fire safety and the important work that firefighters do 🚒🔥

We then enjoyed some tasty s’mores and completed a couple of fun fire station worksheets.

However, firefighters are the only hero’s we’ll be looking at. We’ll be sailing into next week and learning about another group of incredible heroes…🚤 🌊

Another jam packed night in Juniors tonight! We learnt some more about local nature, and how to help wildlife around us. The girls are away home with diaries to see what they can spot and record in their local area!

Then it was on to smoothie making - the smoothies went down a treat! We ended with some new games, some are sure to make a comeback in the weeks to come!!

❤️Explorers❤️

Explorers had a very exciting week visiting Blackness Fire Station, where we learned all about the amazing work our local firefighters do to keep our community safe!

The girls had a fantastic time having a go with the fire hose, trying out blindfolds to understand how firefighters use alarms to navigate through smoke, and climbing inside the fire engines to explore their equipment. The firefighters also took time to talk about their roles and the important work they do, before showing us their very cool fireman’s poles!

A massive thank you to the Amber Squad at Blackness Fire Station for welcoming us, answering all our questions and making our visit such a fun and memorable experience. The girls loved meeting our community heroes and learning so much about what they do! 🚒🧡
