Craigowl Church

Craigowl Church 'Loving Jesus - Loving our Community' This in a simple way reflects who we are and what we seek to achieve.

Craigowl Church, is part of The Church of Scotland and came into being on 1st July 2024 following the Union of neighbouring congregations, Chalmers Ardler and Strathmartine. Both of these congregations had a long history, with Strathmartine's roots dating back to the 1700's whilst Chalmers Ardler (formerly Chalmers Church) began life in 1851. Whilst we can say that Craigowl Church is both new and

old, what remains unchangeable and firmly embedded into our DNA is the desire to see transformation of our communities by making the reality of Jesus Christ known so that others can come to know the love of God for themselves.

Today we want to celebrate two very special people in our church family, Gillian McDonald and her husband Andy, as they take part in a 10K run!

We are so thankful for Gillian and Andyโ€”their faithfulness, encouragement, and service are a blessing to our congregation. As they run today, we are cheering them on and praying for God's strength, protection, and joy to be with them every step of the way.

"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." โ€” Isaiah 40:31

Lord, we thank You for Gillian and Andy. Bless them today with endurance, good health, and a deep awareness of Your presence. May this be a day of joy, accomplishment, and gratitude. Keep them safe and encourage their hearts as they run. Amen.

Join us in wishing Andy and Gillian all the very best and keeping them in your prayers today! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™

What does the Minister do for self-care?

Rev Chris and his wife Marion are currently enjoying a two-week holiday abroad in Tunisia. Time away like this is an important part of self-care in ministry. An opportunity to rest, recharge, reflect, and spend quality time together before returning refreshed for the work and ministry ahead.

They are so grateful for the beautiful surroundings, the slower pace of life, and the chance to enjoy God's creation.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, encouragement, and support. A special thank you to those who are covering responsibilities while Chris is away, making it possible for him to take this time off and fully switch off for a couple of weeks. Your kindness and support are greatly appreciated.

Chris is looking forward to returning rested and ready for the months ahead ๐ŸŒž ๐Ÿ™

It was great to welcome Robbie Morrison from Tearfund to the church today.

Robbie, who serves as Church and Supporter Engagement Team Leader, came out to share about the tremendous work Tearfund is carrying out in some of the most challenging areas across the world.

It was inspiring to hear about the transforming communities work they are involved in and the real difference being made in the lives of so many people globally.

Robbie was also really encouraged to hear about the ministry and outreach taking place here at Craigowl Church. It was a blessing to pray together, share stories, and learn more about how God is at work both locally and globally.

Please continue to pray for Tearfund and all those serving communities in need around the world.

What a special day of connection and community ๐Ÿ’›

We had the joy of being part of the Young Life gathering recently, and wanted to take a moment as a church to celebrate the incredible work happening through Young Lives Tayside.

This amazing group supports young mums across the Dundee area, and we are so proud that Craigowl Church can be a place where they gather, connect, and are encouraged.

It was a truly uplifting dayโ€”full of warmth, worship, and meaningful conversations. We loved seeing old friends reconnect, meeting new faces, and witnessing such a strong sense of community in action.

A special thank you to Annelie Uwimana and her husband Jacques for all that they do. The care, dedication, and heart they pour into this ministry is so evidentโ€”and it was a real blessing to share in a time of worship led by them too.

We feel incredibly grateful to be able to support and partner with such a beautiful piece of work in our city. Itโ€™s moments like these that remind us of the power of community, compassion, and showing up for one another. Rev Chris was delighted to see Rev Francis Murphy from the Mount Kirk in Greenock where he did his probation alongside lots of friends from the congregation that supported and encouraged him alongside his ministry. Truly blessed!

Please continue to keep Young Lives Tayside in your prayers as they support and walk alongside young mums in Dundee ๐Ÿ’› Young Life
