It’s “Happy Bears Day” here in Dundee. Visitors to the local wildlife park got to meet their 3 bears. I hope there were no rowdy children like those encountered by bald-headed prophet Elisha!
Check out Elisha on the REsearch education resource on our website, play our Gory Story card game or read 2 Kings chapter 2 for the full story.

At our interactive service this week, we were studying the story of Jonah. We played "Hey, That's My Fish" with the younger members. It was great fun being a penguin roaming across melting ice sheets traying to catch fish. Of course, the old card game favourite Go Fish was on hand but what I really wanted to play was Jaws - a wonderful board game based closely on the 1975 film. Maybe next time!
The story of Jonah teaches us about God’s mercy, the importance of obedience and the possibility of personal transformation even after failure. You can learn more about Jonah on REsearch, our free online education resource on the Lootro website.

Handel's "Messiah" was first performed on this day in 1741 in Dublin. It's probably the best known and most frequently performed piece of choral work in the world. If you want to make a 'joyful noise' to the Lord, try playing our Ballyhoo card game. Sometimes all the voices are raised at the same time. What a ballyhoo!

The season of Spring was the theme at our inter-generational activity service recently. We played "Ouch!" - a cactus-themed card game where you try to grab the flowers and not the spines; and "Find the Chicks" - a traditional throw-the-dice race game. Each hen moves around the yard (board) trying to gather up the chicks. All the playing pieces are magnetised so some chicks stick to the hen and others push away. Great fun for children because the repelling magnets are unexpected. Of course, the real joy of Spring is that reawakening after the dark months - just like Jesus' resurrection.
