Great information:
Do you know your bible doctrine? I’ve heard people say, “can’t we just all be called “Christian’s” why do we have to identify with any one specific group type??
Well if the town hall was having a meeting and the sign said, “MEETING TONIGHT, come one come all,”
Would you go, not knowing what it’s about or would you think, “what kind of meeting?
Or if the cafe listed their options on the menu as “FOOD” wouldn’t you want to know what is being served?
Would you just order food item 1 and 12?
It’s the same with church, when you see, Methodist, Presbyterian, Latter Day Saints, Lutheran, whatever their title is, it goes back to the reformation and tells you what they believe in reflecting the Catholic Church. They all split from Catholicism and took a percentage of their theology with them. But as Baptist we were never part of the Catholic Church and can trace our church lineage back to Jesus and His disciples. It’s actually quite interesting when you see we were never part of the Catholic Church therefore not part of the reformation and we were never Protestant (protesters) . When people ask, “what denomination are you?” They are somewhat asking how much of the Catholic Church do you still hold to?
Denomination is a monetary word,
£5 note is based on, the Pound Sterling, in the states the dollar is based on gold, whatever percent of gold worth, that was what is printed on that bill.
We are Baptist not as a denomination we are Baptist because of our doctrine.
I hope that was clear. I thought it was quite interesting to know.
