Before & After. Troqueer Cemetery, Dumfries.

This was a big stone, as tall as me. I enlisted my Dochter Darryl to give me a hand, and she came up trumps.

The concrete surround was nigh-on impossible to clean, and it got me wondering why concrete was used, then I looked at the earliest date on the stone, it was during WW2, and I'd imagine there were more important things to spend money on than materials for gravestones. So aye, a stone of its time.

Nice wee restoration of two wee limestone memorials this week These always come up a treat. Wee plaques fae Bessie's world too, Dumfries history, 1972. A plaque fae her pals🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 the Kirk, and yin fae her nursing workmates up at Auld Infirmary. Love this thing that I do. 😁
