So we had the second of our September visits to Notwen House this afternoon.

What a truly blessed time we had with the residents there. Getting to sing the timeless hymns with them. Getting to hear their voices and see the joy on their faces.

Getting to hear how much they enjoyed our visit.

Sharing with them how much God loves each one of them and verses on hope. One of my all time favourites, that has a special place in my heart is:

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Thank you to Margaret for joining me and the welcoming staff who helped with the residents.

We look forward to being back with them in October.

Our next visit is on Sunday afternoon at Briery Park, Thornhill.

This Friday I will be attending the funeral of a special lady, Irene Law who latterly had been a resident at Briery Park, but someone who I’d known for many years from River of Life Church. I am sure there will be many people who come along to celebrate her life.

So the first of our September visits is tomorrow morning at Dumfries Day Centre between 11-12pm.

This month the theme is all about hope.

I particularly love this from the Passion Translation:

“Now may God, the fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!”

Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing.
Psalm 92:13-14
Many of us are prone to think that our best years are behind us. Regardless of our age, for the Christian, our growing and bearing fruit isn’t done yet.
Recently, a church member died of a terminal illness. His son recounted how his father was diligent in prayer and God's work, until the day he died. Such stories of men of God who have been faithful and fruitful till their last breath, are truly inspiring and blesses every generation.Their Godly character is commendable and points us all to Jesus. When the elderly, the oldest and the most weathered among us recount how God never fails, it encourages and inspires everyone who hears them, regardless of their age.
May God help us to age in a way that allows us to still bear fruit in our old age.
