Happy Birthday to Us!!! 🎂🎉🎁

Today is Pentecost.
Pentecost, celebrated 50 days after Easter, is a central Christian feast marking the moment when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles in Jerusalem.

It is often called the ‘birthday of the church’ because it signals the beginning of its mission.

As told in Acts 2:1–31,
followers of Jesus were gathered for the Jewish Feast of Weeks when a sound like a rush of wind filled the house, and "tongues of fire" rested on them, allowing them to speak in different languages.

Across denominational lines Pentecost is an opportunity for Christians to honour the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives, and celebrate the birth of the Christian Church in an ecumenical context.

Lord, on the day of Pentecost, you transformed fearful disciples into men and women of power.

We pray that your Holy Spirit falls afresh on us today.

Blow away the fear, doubt, and apathy in our lives.

Ignite our hearts with your love and grant us the boldness to share your Gospel, bringing light and hope to a broken world.
Help us to be agents of peace and justice in our communities.

Amen.

As i write this we have no one on the list so if and when a plot becomes available you will have first refusal .

The Feast of Annunciation, or Lady Day, is a traditional day for agreeing agricultural contracts. Pray for all tenants, especially those associated with the land, for all landlords and fairness in all dealings between the two. We pray for all who face rural poverty 🙏

For Mary’s faithfulness and her life of service we thank you, Lord.

On this day we pause to reflect on Mary’s deep trust in God; her openness to His call, her courage to say yes, and her humble willingness to serve. In her faithfulness, we see a model of discipleship rooted in listening, obedience and love.

May Mary’s example draw us closer to God, and help us to respond with faith when we too are called. Amen.
