As our Joy and Happiness Prayer event continues into Week 2 we invite you to share Joy with everyone.

✨ JOY GROWS HERE ✨

Week 2: Share Joy

Joy grows when it is shared.

A kind message.
A phone call.
Someone remembering your name.
A friend who listens.
A person who makes life lighter.

This week, we’re reflecting on the people who bring joy into our lives — and how we can become that presence for others.

“And so encourage one another and help one another, just as you are now doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Take a moment today to think of someone who has encouraged you recently.

👇 In the comments:

* tag someone who brings joy into your life,
* share a short thank you,
* or leave an encouraging word for someone reading this.

This week’s prayer:

God, thank You for the people who bring light into my life.
Help me to share joy freely, speak kindly, and encourage others well.
Make me a source of peace and hope this week.
Amen.

✨ Challenge for this week:
Send one unexpected message of encouragement today.

Our Joyful Garden Prayer activity is in The Meeting Place!

It’s the perfect place to shelter from the sun or rain whilst you are enjoying the church garden.

This summer come in and take part in our Garden prayer event as we spread Joy in the community.

A big thank you to our Thursday Afternoon Group who made the tree and flowers.

Share your prayers of joy and happiness.

As we enter into the theme of Joy and Happiness we invite you to join us in a weekly prayer event which will be running over the next 8 weeks.
✨ JOY GROWS HERE ✨
Week 1: Notice Joy
Sometimes joy begins quietly.
A deep breath.
A kind word.
Morning light.
A song you needed.
Laughter.
Rest.
Hope returning.
This week, we’re practising noticing the small gifts that often pass us by.
“This is the day of the Lord's victory, let us be happy, let us celebrate!” — Psalm 118:24
Take a moment today to pause and ask:
Where did I notice joy today?
👇 Share in the comments:
* one word,
* one photo,
* or one small moment that made you smile.
This week’s prayer:
God, open my eyes to the quiet gifts around me.
Help me notice joy, even in ordinary moments.
Amen.

Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us that awareness matters — but action changes lives. 💜

At Dorking United Reformed Church, we believe no one should face life’s struggles alone. Whether it’s checking in on a friend, listening without judgement, offering kindness, or asking for help yourself, every small action matters.

Together, we can create a community where people feel seen, supported, and valued.

This week, let’s turn awareness into action:
🤝 Reach out to someone
💬 Start a conversation
🧡 Show compassion
🙏 Take time for your own wellbeing

Because mental health matters to all of us.

Step back in time and join us for our Vintage Day from 12–4pm!

Enjoy traditional garden games including Bagatelle and Shove Ha’penny, explore photos from the church’s history displayed inside the church, and relax with teas and coffee available throughout the afternoon.

There will be performances in the garden during the day, and we’re delighted to showcase the beautiful bunting specially designed by our Thursday Afternoon Group.

We look forward to welcoming you for an afternoon of history, community, and vintage charm!

🌿 Thank you Dorking Mens Shed 🪵

We’d like to say a big thank you to the wonderful folk at Dorking Men's Shed for producing some absolutely lovely signs for our garden.
The new signs for the Meeting Place and our Remembrance Garden look fantastic and really add something special to these spaces. We’re so grateful for the skill and time that went into making them.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping to make our garden such a welcoming and meaningful place for everyone 💚🪴

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes time lapse of SmallFry getting all set up and ready to welcome you again 💛

We’re so excited to kick off our Summer Term from tomorrow 9:30 - 12:00 as usual— we’ve missed all our little ones and can’t wait to see everyone back, along with some new faces too!

"Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! 🌸

This Easter Sunday we celebrate God’s love that turns sadness into joy and despair into hope. Let us move from the shadow of the cross to the light of the resurrection.

During this morning’s service, the children blessed the congregation with bubbles, enjoyed an Easter egg hunt and then celebrated with a bouncy castle - because no celebration is complete without one!

⏰ The clocks went forward this morning!

We may have lost an hour of sleep, but we’ve gained more daylight—and a fresh reminder that God is always doing something new.

Join us at 10:30 for Rev. Ted Bellingham’s Palm Sunday service—we’d love to welcome you as we gather in worship and fellowship.

As we step into this brighter season, may we use every moment to grow in faith, hope, and love.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24 🌿
