We would love to invite you/the students you work with/your young adults group to join in online discussions about two vital topics with young people from the Diocese of Kimberley and Kuruman in South Africa. The discussions are taking place this Friday and Saturday on Zoom, as part of a hybrid conference the two dioceses are holding.
You/your students/etc are invited to join the Zoom at 1:30 pm on the Friday, to get to know the other people involved. Then at 2:15, we’ll hear a talk on ending Gender-Based Violence and go into groups to discuss the questions it raises. On the Saturday, there will be a talk on the environment and climate justice at 9:30, followed by a discussion on this topic.
The speakers are superb. The Gender Based Violence talk involves contributions from Bishop Margaret Vertue, the retired Bishop of False Bay in South Africa, with contributions from Bishop Vicentia Kgabe of Lesotho and the Anglican Communion’s Director of Gender Justice, Mandy Marshall. The environment talk will be given by Canon Rachel Mash, an inspiring campaigner and the Environmental Coordinator for the Anglican Church of Southern Africa.
It’s a great chance to hear them speak and to share ideas and experiences with people of a similar age from another country. Do join in! Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dioceses-of-kimberley-kuruman-and-oxford-2023-summit-tickets-706715764877, choosing a ‘Youth Hub’ ticket. We look forward to seeing you!
