Happy Advent x

May this day bring Sabbath rest to my heart and my home. May my peace and perspective be renewed in the busyness of this Advent season. May my hand be free enough from spending and acquiring to receive your gift. May a little of the wonder and magic of Christmas awaken the child within me today. And may God’s Word feed me and His Spirit lead me into the week and into the life to come. Amen (Lectio 365)

May the gravity of material things be lightened, and the relativity of time slow down. May I know grace to embrace my own finite smallness in the arms of God’s infinite greatness. Thought for today.

Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

I love spring, it's nature's fight back against the severity and darkness of winter.
We too have a natural built in resistance, where we can breakthrough darkness and adversity.
Believers also have, in addition to our natural built in resilience, a supernatural strengthening available from Christ Jesus to overcome 'All things', so be encouraged today, you too can, like my spring bulbs, break through the severe conditions and darkness and display what you've been designed to be.

Today's project: Attempting to recreate verses from the carol 'The Holy and The Ivy'.

VS 2. The holly bears a blossom,white as the lily flower, and Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
to be our sweet Saviour.

VS 3.The holly bears a berry, as red as any blood,
and Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ to do poor sinners good.

VS 4. The holly bears a prickle, as sharp as any thorn, and Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ on Christmas day in the morn.

VS 5. The holly bears a bark, as bitter as any gall,
and Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ for to redeem us all.
