A football coach will always choose the best possible players that they can get for their team because they want to win. That's what would all expect

At the time of Jesus, every other teacher would choose the highest quality students that they could, so that they can make them even better students. That's what everyone expected.

In contrast, Jesus, chose those who weren't considered the best. In fact many of them were already considered to be failing in life. Jesus's attitude was different. He believed that whatever a person's background, attitude or abilities, he can do amazing things through them. He still believes the same today. If you take up his invitation to follow him, he is still able to bring transformation.

Today is the sort of day that many of us would be on the beach if we could! We love seeing the sunshine but sometimes struggle not to complain about being too hot!
Here is a prayer for hot days:
Creator God, thank you for the brilliant sunshine that warms our bodies and causes crops to grow. Help us to stay cool, calm and well hydrated today. Bless us with all that we need in this hot weather and help us to bless those around us. Amen

When you are cooler this evening you might be interested in joining in with our online service as we celebrate Pentecost.

On some days we feel so free and happy. But not every day. On the days where life isn't so easy we need something to help us to keep going. In today's service we looked at a Bible passage from 1 Peter which gives us some brilliant resources to energise us even on the worst days.
If you missed it this morning you can catch it here:

Some days our journey through life feels a real struggle. There are steep hills and boulders to navigate and we feel that our energy is low. Other days are much better. One truth we often forget is God's closeness to us on the good days and the bad days. In today's service we look at the theme of journeys as we explore Luke 24: 13-35. Join us in the building at 10am or online anytime
