Over the past 40 years plus of ministry, it has been both awesome and humbling to be allowed into people's homes and histories at some of the most vulnerable points in their lives - and especially sharing in their grief as they mourn the loss of loved ones. It has been equally awesome and humbling to share in their joy at weddings and baptisms....to witness the depth of their love expressed in tears - of sadness at funerals and of joy as couples make their vows and Godparents make their promises.
I had the honour of sharing in that joy with Joanna and Tim at Cuckney House near Mansfield a few months ago after they flew in all the way from Seattle, Washington, USA. Both work as Systems Engineers over there - Joanna working on the Mark 1 Lunar Lander, and Tim working at NASA designing parts for the Perseverance Mars Rover at one stage and now working for Amazon after moving to Seattle. They are a truly warm and inspiring couple! (Needless to say most of the prep was conducted via zoom 😳!) The Christian ceremony was both simple and deeply profound, reflecting the intimacy Joanna and Tim share with each other - an intimacy embraced and mirrored in their wonderful families and very close friends.
Thank you both for the utter wonderment of the day! And wishing you God's richest blessings on your continuing journey together 🙏.

Wow! And wow! Last Saturday (23rd August) will be etched in my memory for a very long time. The setting; the guests; the Best Man and Bridesmaids all playing their full part - and the Bride and Groom were amazing...just like a royal wedding! Hayley and Danny are a fantastic couple - so down-to-earth and so very right for each other. They welcomed me into their home with a warmth that was second to none. And the sessions we spent together in preparation were peppered with honesty and humour. Therefore the day itself was spectacular as the prince greeted his princess with tears of joy. I need not have worried about out- shining the bride - I came nowhere near - the day was hers and Danny's! Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of such an incredible experience. God's richest blessings on your future life together ❤️

It was a real joy to be able to say a few words towards the beginning of the Garden Party held at Roger's in Bentley yesterday - an annual event to help raise money for St John's Hospice. This is the 8th such Garden Party Roger has organised with his great friends. And (along with a number of Soul Evenings/Events over the years), money raised so far totals around £15000, which is a fantastic achievement! It was also an incredible privilege to spend time with those gathered - many of whom (like Roger) have lost precious Loved Ones, and so understand that raw sense of loss borne of Love.
All in all, an amazing afternoon! Thank you to all who supported. And thank you for the invitation, Roger!

I have always maintained that every baby is a little miracle - a true gift from God. Hudson was a complete surprise to his mum and dad, Lindsay and Darren. And what a surprise! What a beautiful boy and a real bundle of joy who is now adored by all his amazing family! And that's what made his baptism at the Sly Fox pub in Conisbrough so special yesterday (19th May)! The love was so tangible as parents and godparents made their promises for him - fully supported by the rest of the family and friends - even the youngsters had a wonderful time! And Hudson? Well, he simply took everything in his stride - proving the perfect little candidate to become the latest member of the Lord's Family!

I have known Jamie and his family for a while now - largely through my ministry with the bereaved. But here was a moment of real joy as we celebrated the baptism of Jamie and Vicky's gorgeous baby, Polly. It was quite a hot day on Sunday 12th May when parents, godparents, family and a wonderful array of friends gathered at Kirk Sandall Bowling Club for the occasion. And Polly played her part to the full - touching everyone's hearts as she became part of the Lord's Family! Here we see her receiving the oil of baptism - being signed with the sign of the cross, the sign of Christ.

Yet another truly moving experience with 'Memoria' this evening - this time at Barnby Dun - as we gathered to celebrate their first Christmass Remembrance Service and Light a Candle for a Loved One. Everything was so warm and welcoming (including the orange ambience!) creating a beautiful space for people to gather with their memories. Really good to catch up with folk who have those who grieve at heart - especially those in the funeral profession. Such a privilege to be able to spend time and share with those facing this Christmass without that special person in their lives. That person who they love so much and yet have lost awhile - until we're all gathered together again as love reaches its true fulfilment. Thank you so much Tom and your amazing staff - Emma, Lewis and Michael - for constantly going over and above your call of duty in not only creating sacred space in and around the crematorium itself, but also in making it feel like home. It's a tremendous privilege to be a small part of your ministry to the bereaved! May God continue to bless you all and the deeply caring service you provide.

So wonderful to be able to officiate at the 'Light a Candle for a Loved One Christmass Remembrance Service ' at Memoria Barnby Moor earlier this evening. Such a truly moving experience spending time with everyone - catching up with old friends and making some new! Thank you, Michael and all your staff for the gracious opportunity. May God bless you all and the compassionate work you do for us.

For me, it was quite a unique way of spending a Saturday tea time - blessing the union of Storme and Liam at Rossington Miners' Welfare! But it was so right and so beautiful!
The lovely couple had recently 'tied the knot' in New York. And here, at this wonderful venue (which is fast becoming the hub of the Rossington community and which had been tastefully transformed for the occasion by Mandy and her talented team) the two of them shared their joy with their families and friends.
I must admit, as Storme and Liam entered the room with their amazing children - Darcey, Keedie and Thomas - greeted by the applause of their guests, even I had a tear in my eye! Darcey did her mum and dad proud as she narrated a poem of love from memory; Storme and Liam declared their love for each other in their personal vows and giving of rings before then sealing it all with the inevitable matrimonial (and in their case, passionate!) kiss, much to the joy of everyone present. The music, food and ambience of the whole evening was absolutely resplendent.
And, for me, again, it was a tremendous privilege and pleasure to be a part of it all!
Thank you so much and wishing you every blessing, good health and much happiness in your future life together! +P

I don't know whether to think 'deja vu' or apply for my Old Age Pension! Last Sunday (15th October) I took the road to Minworth near Sutton Coldfield to celebrate the baptism of little Aubrey Primrose Anne Wadeson at the Minworth Social Club and Lodge. It was around 30 years ago that I baptised Aubrey's father, James, when I was serving as Parish Priest of St Mark's Stockland Green in Birmingham (hence the feeling of old age!). As James's mum reminded me last week, at his baptism four generations of his family were present. And at Aubrey's celebration on Sunday, four generations were present!
This beautiful girl was the perfect candidate, taking everything in her stride - surrounded by Sarah and James (her doting parents) and her wonderful Godparents - all playing their full part in the celebration. The guests were then treated to an amazing feast afterwards.
A truly beautiful and heart-warming afternoon and a real joy to welcome Aubrey into the Lord's Family!
Thank you to everyone who made everything so very special.

Those of you who know me will know that I have always viewed ministry as a genuine privilege - to be welcomed into people's hearts and lives and share with them in the good and the not so good. And that's what made Harrison and Noah's baptisms at Hirst Priory last Sunday so very special. It's not that long ago since Harrison was seriously poorly. And many good folk the length and breadth of the country were praying for him and his family - including prayers offered at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham - with the result that (on the day) two healthy boys had a whale of a time running across the stage entertaining their guests!!! The baptism should have been celebrated in the woodland area but, sadly, the rain put paid to that. So we gathered in the teepee with mum and dad (Hollie and Andrew), Godparents and over 80 guests. When we came to the baptism itself, Noah was having none of it (but gave in at the end) and Harrison was the model candidate, sailing through the whole experience. After which, all present were treated to a succulent hog roast. Two beautiful new little Christians, amazing parents, wonderful guests - and God's love embracing all!!! What more could you ask? Thank you so much!

November - the month of Holy Souls when we particularly remember those we love and have lost for just a while.
Come along to a simple service of Holy Communion to remember your Loved One and light a candle for them - Rose Hill Cemetery Chapel, Friday 25th November at 1.00pm.
Look forward to seeing you. But if you're unable to make it and want your Loved One to be remembered, just send me a pm with their name.
Much love, +P
