We’ve got some lovely news ahead of Heritage Day this Saturday! ✨

We’re delighted that Khenpo Pema Namgyal will be joining us at Lindholme for the day, including taking part in our Kinship of Faiths Gathering in the afternoon. 🪷

From 2pm, friends and faith leaders from across Doncaster will come together around the theme Our Future – Connecting Together.

We’ll be joined by Khenpo Pema Namgyal representing the Buddhist tradition, Bishop Leah, the Bishop of Doncaster, representing the Church of England, alongside friends and representatives from Doncaster’s Sikh, Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities. Each will share a short reflection before we open the circle for everyone to join the conversation and take part.

And the younger generation gets a say too! At 11.30am we’ll have a Youth Circle for ages 10–16, with young people from across Doncaster coming together to share their own ideas and hopes for the future.

For those who enjoy time out in nature, you can walk the Kora around Lindholme Island at any time between 9.30am and 4pm. 🚶🌳 There are routes from just 100 yards right up to three miles, so little legs (and grown-up legs!) can choose how far they fancy going.

There’ll also be tours of Lindholme Hall, picnic spots, a play area, homemade lemonade, tea and coffee and plenty of homemade cake. 🍰

Our youngest volunteers have already had a rehearsal ‘get together’ and are determined not to be outdone — so expect them to be here in force too! 😄

Come for a walk, stay for some cake, explore a little history, take part in the conversations, enjoy a picnic — or make a whole day of it.

We’d love for you to join us! ❤️

Join us for Lindholme Heritage Open Day! ✨
🗓️ Saturday 12 September | Lindholme Hall, Doncaster

For around 5,000 years, this remote island on the moors has had quite a story — from prehistoric communities and the strange and wonderful tales of the hermit William of Lindholme, to farming, peat working and local heroes who campaigned to protect the surrounding moors — including entomologist and conservationist Peter Skidmore, who you might spot in our poster!

And that’s only a tiny bit of the story…come and discover more on the day!

There’ll be plenty to see and do:

🚶 9.30am–4pm
Kora walk around the island

🏛️ 10.30am–2pm
Tours of historic Lindholme Hall

🕊️ 2–4pm
Kinship of Faiths Gathering with faith leaders and friends from across Doncaster

☕ All day
Coach House Café, cake & refreshments

Bring your family and friends, come for a few hours or stay for the whole day. Have a wander, explore the island and see what you find.

Free • Everybody is welcome

Devastating Flash Flood Hits Nepal – Families Need Help Now

On August 26, 2026, a devastating flash flood tore through Nepal’s Rasuwa district, sending a violent surge of water, mud, rocks and debris through remote mountain valleys and downstream communities. Within minutes, lives were turned upside down. Preliminary scientific analysis by ICIMOD suggests that a massive ice-and-rock avalanche high in the mountains near the Nepal–Tibet border may have crashed into a river, possibly creating a temporary blockage before a powerful flood wave was suddenly released. The surge travelled through the Bhote Koshi into the Trishuli River, where water levels rose by several metres in a very short time. The full extent of the disaster is still being assessed, but families in the affected areas now face loss, displacement and great uncertainty. What is needed most urgently is safe shelter, clean drinking water, medical care and practical support for those who have lost homes, belongings and livelihoods.

Rangjung Yeshe Shenpen (Shenpen Nepal) has been helping vulnerable communities across Nepal for more than 20 years. Founded by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche in 2004 and closely connected with Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, Shenpen works directly with local communities and trusted partners to bring help where it is most needed. In moments like this, even a small contribution can make a very real difference—providing food, medicine, shelter and hope to families facing an overwhelming crisis.
If you would like to help, donations can be made directly to Shenpen Nepal through its official donation page.

This summer, Lindholme Hall got a little louder, brighter and a whole lot more adventurous as we welcomed Camp Kindfulness to Gomde UK! 🌿🎨

Together with Camp Get Together, children from across Doncaster spent time exploring the grounds, getting muddy, spotting bugs, playing games and putting plenty of imagination to good use too, with lots of fun and giggles along the way of course.

Here are a few snapshots of what they got up to and some of the brilliant things they created.

A huge thank you to Camp Get Together, Doncaster Council, Tony and Theresa, our volunteers and everyone who helped make it possible. And a very special thank you to Sarah Smizz for helping to organise and host these wonderful few days and for capturing these photos too! 📸

Most of all, thank you to our little campers 💛 We hope to see you all again soon!

If you’ve visited our Meditation Hall, you may have walked past these paintings without realising they tell a story.

Together, these beautiful thangkas form The Twelve Deeds of the Buddha, a traditional visual biography of Siddhārtha Gautama’s journey to awakening.

This carousel shares the opening three scenes in the series. 🪷

For centuries, these beautiful works of sacred art have preserved and communicated the Buddha’s life and teachings through story and symbolic imagery. Today, they continue to serve as visual supports for meditation, contemplation and study.

📚 We have a rare and very special opportunity to bring an extraordinary collection of Buddhist teachings to Gomde UK.

Gomde has been selected as one of only a small number of Western Dharma centres to receive the Yeshe De Edition of the Kangyur and Tengyur—a remarkable collection created through decades of dedicated work under the guidance of H.E. Tarthang Rinpoche.

This precious edition will complement the canonical texts already held in our library and Meditation Hall. In time, it will be permanently housed within Thubten Chökor Ling, Gomde UK’s forthcoming temple and library—a place where these teachings can be preserved, studied and made freely available to all.

We are deeply grateful to have been offered this complete collection as a gift. With the support of our community, we now hope to raise approximately £4,000 to bring these precious volumes safely to their new home at Gomde, where they can be cared for, shared and studied for generations to come.

“A Buddhist library for Dharma texts is a precious treasury of wisdom, and that is an invaluable treasure—more valuable than any kind of material treasure.”
— Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche

If 100 people offer £40 each, together we can make the journey of this extraordinary collection possible and ensure that it remains freely available to practitioners, students, researchers and future generations.

Every offering, whatever its size, will help bring this treasury of wisdom safely to Gomde.
