The present building dates from 1909, but there has been a Methodist Society in Donaghadee since 1790, and a chapel since 1813. In Northern Ireland the Methodist Church has long been a bridge-building church and a voice of moderation in Protestantism. It upholds traditional Christian values but does so in a gentle, not a strident way, emphasising the loving kindness of God rather than His judgement. Donaghadee Methodist Church has particular strengths:
Clear, unequivocal preaching of the Word, both by the Minister and by experienced Local Preachers
A friendly and welcoming congregation
A strong Pastoral Team, visiting and caring for members who are ill or in hospital, or confined to their homes by reason of age. A lively interest in music as part of worship, comprising both the well loved traditional hymns and more modern praise songs
A wide range of social and recreational activities, including quizzes, outings and an active walking club.
