St John's, Doddington A church with a view & a friendly welcome, sits at 1000ft on the side of Titterstone Clee Hill

A place of peace and refreshment for the spirit, St John the Baptist Church sits high up on Titterstone Clee Hill and has stunning views. The small but dedicated congregation aims to serve the community and our visitors and to care for the church building and graveyard both of which we know are important to many people. A friendly welcome awaits you at our services and we hold regular community ev

ents in Doddington Village Hall down the road. In a small community nowadays, the Grade II listed church was built in the 1840s for the many miners and quarrymen who worked on the hill. There are 3 Commonwealth War Graves in the graveyard. Do pop in for a look if you are in or visiting the Ludlow and Cleobury Mortimer area.

Walking, Heritage, Coffee and Cake (and a bit more cake!)
A delight to welcome Cleobury Mortimer WI after their short walk on Clee Hill Common to see the Heritage Gateway - lots of oohs and aahs about the exhibits, clever heating, well-designed additions and facilities - and enjoy some coffee and cake. As always we provided plenty of homemade cake and they took some home for their families.
Are you part of a group that would like to visit? We're open 9am-5pm every day and snacks and drinks are always available, so you can just drop in, but if you'd like a bit of a tour, homemade cakes πŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ , or to find out about parking more than 4-5 cars, then feel free to email us.

Heritage Gateway - help us get Titterstone Clee and its communities on the map!
Do you think Titterstone Clee Hill and its fascinating history and unique landscape are well-enough known? There is a new visitor and community space in Doddington that seeks to raise its profile. Working with other interested groups and people we have created a Heritage Gateway where visitors and locals alike can discover more through information, hands-on exhibits, digital info and more. There's food and drink and even a loo - all accessible and in a well-designed space. We've already got visitors coming through the doors, even coach parties and groups.
We now need people to help us develop and maintain this. Could this be you? We’re inviting people who have an interest in any (but not necessarily all) of the following to join us on 20th May in the space, or get in touch: local social, industrial and family history, heritage, the arts, walking, nature on our doorstep, getting creative, cycling, community fun activities.
We are separating the running of the Heritage Gateway from that of the church in which the space sits. Would you like to be involved? Roles will vary from simple day-to-day maintenance to marketing the resource, from arranging or just suggesting activities to managing the installed tech, from seeking new deposits of data and exhibits to welcoming occasional school and visitor groups. Your commitment can fit with your available time and energy. If you would like to express your interest or find out more, please come to this event, or if you can't make it, send us a message or email.
This is an amazing place (you don’t need to take our word for that – just look at the visitor comments!) – come and be part of it!

Tonight! And there will be cake and biscuits 😊

Could this be you? We’re rethinking the way forward at St John’s, and inviting people who have an interest in any (but not necessarily all) of the following to get in touch: local social, industrial and family history, heritage, walking, nature on our doorstep, getting creative, cycling, community fun activities.
The new Heritage Gateway that now forms part of the building has great facilities, and it needs a team to manage it. It's an amazing place (you don’t need to take our word for that – just look at the visitor comments!)
We are planning to separate the running of the Heritage Gateway from that of the church. Would you like to be involved? Roles will vary from day-to-day maintenance to marketing the resource, from arranging activities to managing the installed tech, from seeking new deposits of data and exhibits to welcoming occasional school and visitor groups. Your commitment can fit with your available time and energy. If you would like to express your interest or find out more, please email or message us or come to our Annual Meeting on 22nd April 7pm at Doddington Village Hall where this new arrangement will be the main discussion.
