South Moreton Church South Moreton Church is the Parish Church for our village and part of the Churn Benefice Group of Churches.

Dedicated to St John the Baptist, we hold regular services at 1030 am on the second Sunday of the month and Christmas and Easter.

Please come to the concert in aid of South Moreton Church by Sixth Form Musicians from Oxford High School, several of whom are already on junior programmes with major UK music colleges. The programme includes woodwind settings of music from JS Bach right up to Mussorgsky's Great Gate of Kiev. This will take place in church at 7.15pm on Friday 9th October. Tickets are £15 per person and can be obtained via Eventbrite on https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/2000208835471?aff=oddtdtcreator. Please come and join South Moreton Church for its monthly service of Holy Communion this Sunday 12th September starting at 10.30am. Our Rector Jason will be taking the service so come and sing along to our lovely organ and natter to friends and neighbours over a coffee afterwards. There will be some art and craft work for the kids in the South Aisle.

A lot of wonderful people are going to be on the annual sponsored bike ride around as many churches as they can this Saturday 12th September 2026 in aid of historic churches like ours. Could you spare an hour (or two) in South Moreton Church between 10am-6pm to welcome, sign sponsor forms and offer refreshments. And/Or could you bake/donate a cake, some brownies or some biscuits' for the refreshments. Please DM us if you can help.

Last call for the 🍾 South Moreton Safari Supper – Saturday 5 September. Absolute deadline August Bank holiday to give hosts a cahcne to pan their menus!

We start with a sparkling wine and canapés reception at 6.30pm in St John the Baptist’s Church, followed by a mystery-host main course somewhere in the village and reuniting at The Crown for delicious desserts AND the after party

Tickets are £20 per person in aid of church funds. We'd still love to hear from anyone willing to host a main course, provide canapés, or make a pudding.

No driving, great food, excellent company, and a wonderfully sociable evening guaranteed. If you've never been before, this is the year to give it a try!

Just to thank everyone who showed up to our Church Clypping service nearly two weeks ago, and particularly to those who brought food and drink to our excellent little party afterwards! About 30 attended, a mixture of old and current residents, baptism, wedding and funeral families. We did the holy hokey-cokey and turned outwards to bless our village and all who sail in her

Can we do it? Can we get enough villagers to form a ring around the our church this Sunday to symbolise its central part in our community? Our service starts at 10.30am when we hope to welcome particularly current/former residents, or those who have a Christening, wedding or funeral connection. If you "don't do God" but just want to show support for our community then come along about 10.45am. We haven't the foggiest how many people are coming, so please bring a bottle and some nibbles to share for the party afterwards. Look forward to seeing you!!

A month has flown past since our wonderful Flower Festival and Village Open Day at our church. Thanks to everyone helped with flower arranging, the art display, the plant stall, teas, the petting zoo, the school and the pre-school displays, yoga, the plank challenge, the Cornermen, the horses, the raffle and the nature tail. Thanks also to all those who showed up and made it all worth it. It was a great community event and all that is good about village life!
