✨ **What can I do in my parish?**

For seven young people taking part in the Pope John Paul II Award in Carndonagh, Co Donegal, the answer included some very ordinary things — helping prepare the church for important celebrations, reading at Mass, caring for the church grounds and even using their digital skills to set up and maintain the parish’s social media.

Their experience is a good reminder that parish involvement doesn’t have to mean everyone doing the same thing.

Perhaps the question isn't simply:

“What activity can I do for my Award?”

Instead, ask:

“What could I do to help in my parish?”
“What am I good at that I could offer?”

POPE JOHN PAUL II AWARD LAUNCHED IN KERRY

The Pope John Paul II Award was officially launched in the Diocese of Kerry during the Conference of Possibilities at the Brehon Hotel, Killarney.

The Award will be embedded within the new Spirit Youth Programme, helping young people to grow in faith through parish involvement, service and social awareness activities.

A special word of thanks to the Knights of Columbanus for their generous support of the programme.

We look forward to working with young people, parish leaders and volunteers across Kerry in the years ahead.

Diocese of Cork and Ross Awards 2026

Thirteen young people from across the Diocese of Cork and Ross were presented with their Gold Pope John Paul II Award Medals during two special diocesan celebrations held alongside the visit of the Relics of St Carlo Acutis.

The presentations took place during Masses celebrated by Bishop Fintan Gavin in Skibbereen and Cork City, making this a particularly memorable occasion for the recipients, their families, schools and parish communities.

Congratulations to all 13 Gold Award recipients on this wonderful achievement and thank you to everyone who has supported them on their journey of faith, service and leadership.

Our JP students from Presentation who completed their award this morning, they have been with us here in St.Paul’s for the last six months and it has been a pleasure to work with them,may God bless them.
