A new Catholic community of consecrated sisters, rooted in the Carmelite tradition, with a growing lay branch!

We are a new contemplative, but not enclosed, community of religious sisters and brothers (some of whom may become priests)

We are passionate about encouraging a culture of vocation within the Church and society by helping people recognise and respond to God's love in their lives. As a Marian community dedicated to Our Lady of Walsingham, we pray for the conversion of England and the western world and are engaged in the New Evangelisation.

We had a wonderful time attending the Dowry of Mary pilgrimage at Walsingham yesterday. This joyous and vibrant pilgrimage celebrates both the universality of the Church and our own spiritual heritage as a nation given to Mary as her dowry.

We were also delighted to spend some time at the end of the day with Archbishop Richard Moth who led the pilgrimage. You can listen to his homily from the Pilgrim Mass on the livestream recordings from the Catholic Shrine.

Maybe we will see some of you at the Dowry of Mary pilgrimage next year?

We have all had different journeys to religious life with the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham. Some of us met the community only a brief time before they joined, others knew the community for years beforehand. The latter is the case with Sr Catherine the above photos taken 10 years ago at the Youth 2000 Summer Festival in Walsingham - 5 years before she took on the habit herself as a novice! Hence the dress underneath the scapular (it’s not a proposed habit design change…). Little did she know she know at the time that she would join the community a few years later…

You will be able to read the personal stories of each sister on our website which is currently in the process of being relaunched. We look forward to sharing them with you!

Please continue to pray for vocations to the consecrated life, particularly in this country. That young men and women would be open to God’s call and have the courage to take those steps and follow Christ more closely in this way.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to be spending this weekend at the Jesus Youth Conference in Warwick, especially as they celebrate their Jubilee year. It’s been such a blessing to meet so many people with such a zeal for the Lord and to spend this weekend journeying with them.

Some sisters will be at the Vocations Kiosk today and tomorrow so be sure to come over the say hello!

The nights are beginning to draw in, dusk is descending sooner, and if you are roaming around the Norfolk country roads at that shadowy hour you may meet mysterious figures meandering around in the moonlight 👀

Today the Church celebrates the Queenship of Mary, an Octave after the great Solemnity of the Assumption (unless, like this year, it was transferred!).

Traditionally, England has been known as the Dowry of Mary so we see Mary as our Queen in a particular way. In depictions of Our Lady of Walsingham she is shown wearing a crown, indicating this Queenship to which her Son raised her as a result of the yes she gave to the Father’s Will in each and every moment of her life. But she always points us to her Son, as the Statue depicts, modelling perfectly for us what it means to return all praise and glory to the Trinity.

May Our Lady’s intercession and example guide us to a deeper relationship with Christ so that we may give our own Fiat to the Father’s Will in every moment of our life.

Happy Solemnity of the Assumption 🙏 Last night we gathered in Walsingham to celebrate with the annual procession in honour of Our Lady to mark this wonderful feast. It is an annual event with prayers at different locations around the village commemorating the Assumption of Mary to heaven.

Let us pray that through her intercession we may learn to always give true praise and glory to the Trinity.

“When I see the heavens, the work of your hands, the moon and the stars which you have arranged…” Psalm 8.

How amazing to have a solar eclipse and a beautiful meteor shower over the course of one evening. It was a gift we had such clear skies to witness both and to see so many meteors flying across the sky.

As the psalmist reminds us, gazing at the night sky can be a humbling reminder of the majesty and grandeur of God who set it all in motion. And yet how amidst all this wonder, he sees us as being the crown of all creation.

Let us ask for the grace today to have eyes open to the beauty of creation and to give thanks to the Creator of it all who made it to show his love for us.

We always enjoy visiting the The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham (Anglican) in Walsingham. It is a beautiful and tranquil spot in the village of Little Walsingham itself.

If you are around on Saturday 15th August there will be the annual ecumenical torchlight procession from St Mary’s Parish Church to the Anglican Shrine which is always a lovely occasion. Maybe we will see some of you there 👀

The readings at Mass today invite us to reflect upon the providence of God who cares for our needs. They also call us to consider what our deeper desires are and what we are truly seeking. Transient earthly things or something more which endures forever?

This does not necessarily entail giving up all things, whilst that can be a part of the journey it is the right disposition and motivation which is of the greatest importance. To utilise all I have for the glory of God, and that which is not for his glory to be laid aside. And to trust that God can use all things to bring about my greater good.

Two members of our Lay Branch to make their first promises a few weeks ago were Sr Catherine’s Mum and Dad!

It is a blessing to be able to journey with one another and to see the way our charism and the spirituality of Walsingham embraces all different states of life. Each person’s journey towards God is wholly unique and yet it is also a journey to be shared.

We thank God for the gift of our Lay Branch and the many people who are a part of it or discerning it around the country and beyond!
