Community of Our Lady of Walsingham

Community of Our Lady of Walsingham A new Catholic community of consecrated sisters, rooted in the Carmelite tradition, with a growing lay branch!

We are a new contemplative, but not enclosed, community of religious sisters and brothers (some of whom may become priests)

We are passionate about encouraging a culture of vocation within the Church and society by helping people recognise and respond to God's love in their lives. As a Marian community dedicated to Our Lady of Walsingham, we pray for the conversion of England and the western world and are engaged in the New Evangelisation.

Blue candy floss for the blue sisters!

Thanks to the Ignite Youth Mission Team for having yesterday evening at their young adult leader’s evening yesterday. To mark the celebration of the Sacred Heart we bought along a candy floss machine to help share some of the sweetness of the love of God. Hope you all had a blessed feast as well!

We had some very cute visitors to our pond recently! A duck decided to make her nest in our cloister area and as soon as her little ones hatched it was into the pond. She has since chosen to take them elsewhere, safely guiding them through our kitchen with the aid of a priest and two sisters!

After a very busy past few weeks it was nice to take time to enjoy the beautiful weather and spend an afternoon together as a community at Sandringham here in Norfolk.

Whilst we didn’t come across King Charles we nevertheless had a lovely time exploring the beautiful gardens and spending some quality time with one another!

It was a joy to welcome Bishop Alan Williams from the Diocese of Brentwood to our home recently. Bishop Alan has journeyed with our community since the early days and we are very grateful for his wisdom and support over the years. He was even COLW’s neighbour back when we were based in Abbotswick!

Please keep him and his ministry in your prayers 🙏

Yesterday was the annual Diocesan pilgrimage to Walsingham for the Diocese of East Anglia in which we are based. It was a particularly special pilgrimage this year as the Diocese is celebrating the 50th Anniversary since its establishment.

We so enjoyed the day spent in prayer with those from around East Anglia, and it was a lovely to see lots of familiar faces from various missions we have facilitated around Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. We look forward to celebrating with the Diocese once again in the summer at the Cathedral for the Jubilee Mass!

Do you know your baptism birthday?

Pope Francis, amongst others, has said that the day of baptism is of greater importance in some ways than our actual birthday, and today Sr Catherine marks hers. She is pictured here with the gown she wore on the day of her baptism which her parents have kept all this time. Swipe for cute baby photos from the day itself!
