They then spent the afternoon at Markeaton Primary School for a Mini Police session, this week we discussed PCSO and Police Officers powers around stop searches. ๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿป

It was then a visit to St Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy to take part in their summer fair along with our colleagues from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue ๐Ÿš’ ๐Ÿš“

The team have been out and about in the community over the last few days.

Yesterday we attended a walkabout around the area of Beechwood Park Drive, this was attended by local residents and members of Derby City Council. Issues that were raised included speeding vehicles and parking, we will be working with our colleagues from the council to try and tackle these issues.

PCSO's have also held a community catch up at The Greenery and conducted patrols at two local schools, one of which we have received complaints for around parking at school start and end time. Multiple drivers were spoken to and moved on in relation to this, below is some advice around parking at school start and end times.

- Park considerately and legally โ€“ avoid double parking, blocking driveways, or stopping on zig-zag lines or pavements.
- Keep sight lines clear โ€“ poor parking can block visibility for children crossing the road.
- Use designated drop-off points where available, rather than stopping directly outside school gates.
- Allow extra time so youโ€™re not tempted to rush or park unsafely.
- Turn off engines while waiting to reduce pollution around children.
- Encourage walking where possible โ€“ parking a few streets away helps reduce congestion at the school gate.
- Be mindful of residents โ€“ keep noise down and respect local access.
- Set a good example โ€“ safe, respectful driving teaches children the right habits.

Officers from the Youth Engagement Team this week delivered an informative session on knife crime to Year 7 students at Castle School as part of Operation Sceptre. The input focused on raising awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying knives, while encouraging young people to make positive and safe choices.

As part of ongoing activity during Op Sceptre, the Safer Neighbourhood Team also carried out a second knife sweep, this time at Darley Park. Weโ€™re pleased to report that no knives were found.

We will continue to work with our communities to keep Derby safe. ๐Ÿš“ ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿป

A number of suspects have been arrested after a significant amount of cash, gold and silver bullion and suspected drugs were discovered during a series of search warrants across Derby.

Officers from across numerous departments including the Criminal Exploitation Team, Task Force, Dog Section and Derby West Safer Neighbourhood Team executed three warrants in Kingsley Road, Allestree, Duffield Road, Darley and Lyndhurst Street, Derby on Tuesday 12 May.

We discovered a large amount of suspected drugs hidden in the rafters of a brick outbuilding, plus more than ยฃ35,000 cash and in excess of ยฃ40,000 worth of gold and silver bullion. In addition, 28 mobile phones were seized.

Seven people were arrested in connection with a number of offences including modern slavery, being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, money laundering, r**e and threats to kill.

Three men (aged 33, 34 and 58) and four women (aged 29, 31, 32 and 54) were arrested and bailed with conditions whilst enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Chris Ford, who leads the Criminal Exploitation Team, said: โ€œThis was a significant operation involving several policing teams working together to carry out warrants at multiple different locations.

โ€œMembers of the public may have seen a significant police presence in the area for the day of action, which has yielded numerous arrests and led to the recovery of a large amount of suspected drugs and cash, all of which will support our ongoing investigation.

โ€œI would like to encourage members of the public to continue to look out for the signs of modern slavery and to report any suspicious activity relating to this type of crime to police so we can take action.โ€

๐Ÿš” Safer Neighbourhood Team Update โ€“ Operation Sceptre ๐Ÿ”

Yesterday, officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team were joined by PPO Baker from Derby City Council, they carried out a knife sweep at West End Recreation Ground as part of Operation Sceptre, the national knife crime awareness week.

โœ… No knives were found on this occasion, which is a positive result and reflects ongoing efforts to keep our community safe. These proactive patrols remain an important part of preventing harm and maintaining safe public spaces.

Today, the team also visited Walter Evans Primary School, where they spoke with Year 6 students about the laws surrounding knives, the risks involved, and the importance of making positive choices. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

Engaging with young people and working together as a community are key steps in preventing knife crime and keeping everyone safe.

| Crime prevention advice issued following suspected burglaries in Derby

We are encouraging residents to please follow our crime prevention advice following a series of suspected burglaries in Derby.

Two incidents have been reported to us in which residents living in houses of multiple occupation (HMO) have had items stolen.

As a result we are encouraging people who live in shared housing and who have locks to their rooms to make sure they are secure when not in use.

We would also like to remind people living in HMOs/shared properties to ensure the main door to the property is shut and locked when not in use.

Residents are also asked to ensure windows are closed and secured when they are not using them.

Our Safer Neighbourhood Team had a fantastic time attending Markeaton Primary School as part of the Mini Police programme ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The pupils got hands-on experience supporting officers by carrying out speed checks on Broadway, learning all about road safety, community responsibility, and why keeping to speed limits matters ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ
It was great to see such enthusiasm, teamwork, and confidence from the Mini Policeโ€”future community champions in the making! ๐ŸŒŸ

Thank you to Markeaton Primary School for your warm welcome and continued support ๐Ÿ’™
