My simple reply to the woman who said,
'religion is behind all wars'
'Look with me at the teaching of Jesus and let's see if at anytime he called his followers to take up arms'
She quietly went on her way.
And for the person who says
'all you church goers are hypocrites,
He may be right about a high percentage of us 'church goers'
But he is unwilling as somebody who has no plank in his own eye to help us who have splinters in ours.
Often, when God dismantles our excuses, our real agenda is laid bare
and when the smoke screen we've created disappears it really is about what really holds us back.
The truth is that God truly does love us and does care for us, for some of us that's too hard to accept.
Time to lay down our excuses.
Time to let God's love in.

Wow!
October is nearly here and for those who thought that we wouldn't see October, think of how graciously the Lord is giving people a little more time to get right with Him.
2 Peter ch 3 v 9

Great fellowship the last two nights for us.
Lynnette and the women continue on the encouragement to pray
and for the men our journey through Hebrews continued with ch 10.
With going through the books and letters of the bible chapter by chapter, you don't duck out of the passages that might seem difficult.
We also enjoy fellowship through the day beginning with our own gathering at 9.15am Tuesday to Saturday and then opportunity through the day to sit with and encourage people who come for a natter.
We are truly blessed in every way.
This is church for us.
Much love to everyone.

A few weeks ago I was about to walk on a Sunday morning and I thought I need to wear my wedding ring.
My walk on a Sunday morning is a ten mile circuit that includes prayer for God's people and for their service in those communities.
I don't wear my wedding ring very often so I wondered if this was a nudge from God.
I walked and prayed and felt a real sense of the church needing to get itself ready for the return of the bridegroom.
This brought a personal challenge to me,
'Dean you are part of my church, my bride'
A few days later Alex Slater shared a thought with me and asked me what I thought about Isaiah ch 62 v 4+5
Isaiah is relaying God's loving thoughts to his people,
'as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you'.
Lynnette and myself have been startled just recently by the amount of times the importance of
knowing Jesus is being underscored to us, the most recent from Ephesians ch v 17
'so that you may know him better'
and from Matthew ch 7 v 21-23
'I never knew you'
These words from Jesus give clarity to his understanding of us knowing him.
So, the bridegroom is encouraging his bride, the church, to get ready and major to this getting ready is to know who we are marrying.
As Paul said to the Philippians ch 3 v 7-11
'I want to know Christ'
'The surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord'
We discuss these things further, please pass on any thoughts you have.
