🎶 WE’RE RECRUITING - DEADLINE SOON🎶

Join one of the UK’s most ambitious and rapidly expanding Cathedral Music Departments.

As our music programme continues to grow, we’re looking for talented and enthusiastic people to help shape the next chapter of music-making at Derby Cathedral.

🎵 Choral Director for Schools (0.4 FTE)
Lead inspiring whole-class singing sessions across KS1 and KS2 as part of our Music in Schools Programme, reaching more than 1,400 children in 25 schools every week.

🎵 Chorister Supervisor (10.5 hours per week)
Provide pastoral care and practical support for our Choristers, Junior Choral Scholars and young musicians, helping them thrive.

🎵 Deputy Lay Clerks (Occasional)
We’re seeking professional-standard or experienced choral singers to join our deputy list for services, concerts, broadcasts and tours with the renowned Derby Cathedral Choir. Applications are welcomed from Altos, Tenors and Basses, as well as Sopranos for midweek funerals and occasional services.

Join us at Derby Cathedral on Sunday 28 June for a special Book Tour Event with Tim Popple, author of Evensong – Notes from the Choir.

📖 Tim will share insights from the book, read an extract, answer audience questions, sign books, and there’ll even be merch available on the night!

⛪ The event is preceded by Choral Evensong at 5.15pm sung by Derby Cathedral Choir, featuring music by Ives, Walton, Leighton and Duruflé.

⛪ The Cathedral is quiet and empty this morning, but in just a few hours this magnificent space will be filled with music and song. 🎶

Over the next three days, we will welcome hundreds of children from our Music in Schools Programme to experience the beauty of Derby Cathedral, sing alongside the Cathedral Choir, and celebrate everything they have achieved in our sessions this year. 🎵✨

We can’t wait to welcome them and share in this special celebration of music, learning and community. ❤️

It was wonderful for our choristers to meet and sing alongside the choristers of Chesterfield Parish Church at yesterday’s Diocesan Choral Festival.

Children are the future of church music, and these talented young singers were absolutely brilliant throughout the afternoon!

🎶 Over 100 singers from across the Diocese of Derby came together this afternoon for the Diocesan Choral Festival at St Oswald’s, Ashbourne.

It was a wonderful afternoon of music-making, worship, and fellowship, with voices from across the Diocese joining together in song.

Many thanks to all the choirs who took part and helped make the festival such a success. We are grateful to St Oswald’s for their warm hospitality and to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the day possible.

These young musicians have been working incredibly hard, and we know they’re going to be absolutely amazing! 🌟

Please note that these concerts are for the parents and families of participating children and are not open to the general public.
