Thank you so much to the children of year 4 at Allenton Community Primary School who have created amazing posters for us. It’s Community Action Week so the pupils were thanking local organisations in their community. We feel so honoured to be included in this and we also appreciate the support that the school gives us in terms of harvest donations etc for food parcels. Thank you!! The posters are all fantastic!

We are so grateful for all of our fantastic volunteers. Whether they help with Sallie’s Tots, Coffee, cake and chat, our End of month community meal, with gardening, fairs, cream teas or behind the scenes, we just couldn’t do what we do without them. You are all amazing! Thank you so much for all your help and support!

We looked at the hymn ‘Fairest Lord Jesus’ this afternoon amongst other topics. It was originally written as a hymn of adoration, worship and wonder, albeit in dated language. We’ve written some descriptive words about Jesus Christ that could be included in a more modern hymn of worship and wonder. Come and join us next week for Pentecost, (the birth of the church), as well as the anniversary of the Salvation Army in Allenton!!

Thank you ever so much to Majors Fiona and Martin Sayer and Major Denise McGarvey (Nottingham, Meadows) for leading our meetings (services) recently. Major Fiona reminded us to not be fearful because God always goes with us, he'll never leave us and he wont ever forget us. Major Denise encouraged us to think of ourselves as living bricks, all with different skills and abilities that we can use to build up each other and our church community. Thank you all for your preparation and encouraging words.

We are back after our Easter break! Sallies Tots and Coffee, cake and chat start back this week (Tuesday and Wednesday respectively). The community meal will be next week - please note the change of date. It's not the last Thursday in the month this time. We look forward to welcoming back old friends and hopefully making some new ones.

Thank you to everyone who brought along flowers to decorate the hall for Easter. They were beautiful. Thanks also to Paul Garwood who led a great Easter celebration. He spoke about the fact that the stone wasn’t rolled away to let Jesus out of the tomb. He is far more powerful than a stone, however big it was! It was to let us in. What stones (of fear, of materialism, of pride for example) are stopping us from getting close to Jesus Christ?
