Llay WI recently held a successful Open Evening, welcoming members from seven local WI groups together with guests from the wider community.

The evening’s entertainment was provided by the Welsh Healthcare Choir, who delighted the audience with a varied and enjoyable programme of songs. Under the direction of conductor Aled, the choir delivered a memorable performance that was warmly received by everyone present.

Guests also enjoyed a selection of homemade cakes supplied by a local business, accompanied by tea and coffee, providing an opportunity for members, visitors and the choir to socialise.

Llay WI would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success.

We still have some spaces unfilled for the bread making classes coming up in 'Use your loaf' at Rhyl : 2 places for Monday the 8th, 1 place for Tuesday 9th and 2 places for Thursday 11th. See the Newsletter for more details. These are now open for your friends who may not be W.I. members. Come along and make some delicious fresh bread!

Some photographs from yesterday's 'At Home' meeting in Llanefydd, where members recieved a talk by Maria Roberts on how to 'Professionally decluter and organise our homes' The members were also treated to a scrumptious afternoon tea prepared and served by the ladies of Llanfairtalhaiarn WI - thank you very much for your hard work everyone.

For ANY member who has an interest in expanding their knowledge of how to eliminate violence, or any form of abuse against women, please attend the training day at Llandudno Junction on June 2nd.
You do not have any obligation, just come and learn how you might in any small way make a difference to someone's life.

Some of the ladies from Colwyn Bay WI enjoyed afternoon tea at Clare’s of Llandudno (which we thoroughly recommend – excellent value). A feast of delightful sandwiches, their homemade (with marmalade) Bara Brith, pretty cakes and finally scones warm from the oven. Complete with tea or coffee, and of course a glass of something fizzy! Wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Wales: 2026 Not in my Name competition

This year’s NFWI-Wales Not in my Name competition is to ‘Design and Create a Coaster’ depicting the theme of ending violence against women. This competition is open to members across England, Wales and the Islands. The competition closes on 9 November 2026.

Thank you to Jackie Taylor of Colwyn Bay W.I for sending in a photograph from their April meeting. Every month the group has a competition featuring items of interest around a specific theme, or items made by themselves. April's meeting, was appropriately, for a decorated Easter Bonnet.
The winner was Sam Jones, 3rd from the right in the back row. You all look amazing ladies!
