HAPPY ST PIRAN'S DAY from all at DELABOLE METHODIST CHURCH. What a legend! He established the oldest Christian church in Britain, St Piran's Oratory near Perranporth. He was a man of the people, a miracle worker, the Tinner's saint, and the one on whose story it is said inspired the design of the Cornish flag: white tin metal against black rock, also symbolising the light of God in a dark world.

Today is Remembrance Sunday and the lyrics of this contemporary song speak of the price that has been paid by many so that we can live in peacetime, as well as the price that has been paid for each and every one of us by Jesus. In His death and resurrection the sin that separates us from God is defeated and we have eternal life, life in all its fullness. In today's world where people continue to fight, both worldwide and closer to home, where selfishness and anger seem to abound, surely the offer of truth, hope, love and peace is one that we should embrace in order to make the world a better place for everyone.

In today's bible reading Jesus warns about the dangers of being divided against one another, and at the end of a week where peace has very much been a focus in news reports it's perhaps a timely reminder that "peace" is the responsibility of all of us, an aim summed up very well in this song. If we all live as God intends, loving one another, forgiving wrongs, and seeking what is best for one another, there really would be peace - beginning with each and every one of us.
