Happy New Year to all our members and everyone living with Diabetes! We’re currently taking our winter break but meetings will resume at Daventry Methodist Church on the second Monday in March at 7.30pm. Looking forward to seeing you then - why not come and join us?

Our next meeting will be on Monday, 12th June (NOT 5th as previously noted) at 7.30pm at our new Venue, Daventry Methodist Church, Golding Close, Daventry, NN11 4FH, when we will be holding an Open Forum. Everyone welcome so why not come along and meet others who understand what it’s like to live with a chronic condition! Free parking and refreshments!

Hello everyone

If you’re living with any type of Diabetes or care for someone who is, please come along to our next meeting on Monday, 15th May at 7.30pm at our new venue, Daventry Methodist Church, 6 Golding Close, Daventry, NN11 4FH. Our speaker will be Graeme Wilson whose topic will be ‘Physical activity: the key to a happy and healthy future’. Free entry, easy parking, refreshments (small donation appreciated if you can). We are a friendly, supportive group and everyone is welcome! Look forward to seeing you!

You will probably have seen the new Diabetes U.K. campaign advert on TV. It’s quite hard hitting! And November 14th is World Diabetes Day when everyone’s invited to Nail It by painting their nails blue to raise awareness of Diabetes. I hope everyone’s getting their booster jab and looking forward to getting back together when we are able to access our meeting room at Danetre Hospital. Take care, everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well? Unfortunately, we’re still unable to access the Seminar Room at Danetre Hospital so haven’t yet been able to resume our monthly meetings. As soon as we have any news, we’ll of course be in touch. Meanwhile, stay safe and well!

Hello everyone

February already and we’re still in lockdown! So sorry we still can’t meet but I hope you’re all safe and well.

I had my first vaccination two weeks ago - what a relief! Has everyone had theirs now? I had mine at Locke House in Rugby and was very impressed by the excellent organisation and friendly atmosphere. I did have a few side effects - fatigue and a pounding head - but fortunately, they didn’t last long.

I’m busy doing some writing at the moment and having a daily walk but also watching far too much television. How about you?

Hello Everyone

It seems increasingly likely that we won’t be able to have a face-to-face meeting this side of Christmas in view of the Rule of Six and the fact that the Seminar Room at Danetre Hospital isn’t available.

I hope you’re all keeping well in these difficult times and taking special care of yourselves. If you have any problems, don’t forget to have a look at the Diabetes UK page where there’s plenty of good advice. And have you seen that the very low calorie diet programme is being trialled in various parts of the UK? It sounds very difficult to stick to but has had good results!
