Good morning - Wednesday and midweek. At 9.00am Adam will lead us in Morning Prayer in the Lady chapel. At 10.00am Rev Jane Bury will preside and preach at the Eucharist. All are welcome, it would be lovely to meet you.
Today the church remembers Charles Fuge Lowder, priest. He was an Anglican priest and leading figure of the Catholic revival in the Church of England, known for his devoted ministry among the poor in London’s East End, his commitment to sacramental worship, and his founding of the Society of the Holy Cross (SSC), which shaped generations of Anglo‑Catholic clergy.
Psalm 45: 11-end
So the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him;
the people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts, the richest of the people
with all kinds of wealth. The princess is decked in her chamber with gold-woven robes;
in many-colored robes she is led to the king; behind her the virgins, her companions, follow.
With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king.
In the place of ancestors you, O king, shall have sons; you will make them princes in all the earth.
I will cause your name to be celebrated in all generations; therefore the peoples will praise you forever and ever.

Good morning on this Tuesday morning. The schools are back which means assembly for me this morning at St Peter's. At 12.45pm we will have Bible Study - continuing our journey through Jeremiah.
Today the church remembers the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Accession of King Charles lll, in 2022.

Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.

For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory.
Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their couches.

Good morning to a new working week. I hope you all feel rested after the weekend and are ready for this new week. Food Share are in the Parish Centre this evening. We give thanks for all of the work which they do.
The appointed Psalm for today is Psalm 5:5-9a
The boastful will not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house, I will bow down toward your holy temple in awe of you.
Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
For there is no truth in their mouths; their hearts are destruction; their throats are open graves; they flatter with their tongues.
A Psalm which invites us to walk in truth and seek with God's guidance amidst the pressures of a confusing world.
I wonder...

Good morning on this Sunday morning. Today it is Trinity 14. It is also creation in Christ. The title "Creation in Christ" emphasises that creation is understood through the person and work of Jesus Christ: created through him, sustained in him and destined for renewal in him. It is to draw Christians through worship and prayer toward playing their part in the Church's mission to "safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth".
Psalm 119: 33-40
Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes, and I will observe it to the end.
Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.
Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.
Turn my heart to your decrees, and not to selfish gain.
Turn my eyes from looking at vanities; give me life in your ways.
Confirm to your servant your promise, which is for those who fear you.
Turn away the disgrace that I dread, for your ordinances are good.
See, I have longed for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life.
At the heart of this Psalm is a longing to be shaped by God. I wonder...

Good morning on this Saturday morning. Prayers for Adam today as he begins his training as an LLM with a day at Blackburn Cathedral. We hope he has a good day and as he meets his cohort of students. Exciting times ahead.
Psalm 145: 18-end is the appointed Psalm for today.
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.
The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.
My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.

Good morning on this Friday morning, I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. It is strange how when we have a Bank Holiday the week seems to be very long! Today the church remembers Birinus, bishop 650.
